Walaahi I never paid attention toward it before but that is so true. I've never seen the father giving his daughter away. Thanks for the knowledge man.

How about the dude? Does his father ask for the hand of the chick or some one else do the honor as well?

When you Say "Us" Who are You Talking About Specifically?

And When you say "Konfurians" Who are you talking About Specifically ?

....There are Cultural Differences Between clans in "Somaliland"

.... And There are Cultural Differences Between Clans in All Parts of Somali settled regions. Including Somaliland

All Somalis have Similar Culture's With a few differences...

Isaaqs in the hawd and ogadeens in the hawd have long historical and Cultural ties together,

Aswell as Reer Nuur and Jibriil abokor in western somaliland,

Aswell as dhulbahantes and Hj in the eastern part,

aswell as warsangelis and osmaan maxamouds, warsangelis and HY

sacad and Omar maxamoud also,

etc.....,

But at the end of the day all Somali clans are similar in many ways, except for a few things..

Somaliland is allready independent the meaning of independent is that we are not part of somalia or ruled by Somalia , what we are missing is recognition which is a formality the day we don't control our airpspace seashores and land and our borders thats the day we are not independent now we are an independent state.
U know wat i mean. Wen will Somaliland be on the map and get a border and freedom from Somalia. I hope today.
man change the question and say when sland will put their flag in IGAD adis ababa

Have you ever been to a non-Isaaq meher? I have been to all qabiil mehers and I have never seen a father speak at the meher saying we give the girl. Of course the father gives private consent but in the public qado it is always the most afmiinshaar or most respected elders pandering around speaking for the two families. Wee goosgoostaan, then sooryo, then qado, then bye.

There must be cultural differences between mehers in the US and UK because before the 'bye' and after the qado, the boxes of qaad are given out over here. 8-)

On my meher i gave out 4 boxes of qaad, each box costing £130 at the time.

In conclusion, mehers in the Uk are more expensive than the ones in America :|

Saaxib, no joke wtf

You can virtually go to any meher and get some free qaad, Somali meher or Yemeni meher.
Ofcourse, the guy who's getting married is not the person handing them out, he just makes sure the qaad is purchased before hand. I personally didn't see the qaad, they give it out marka la qadeeyo, most of the time its at the local community centre. You just avoid giving the qaad directly to the girls father or brothers man, one of my cousins and a friend of mine were giving it out but they were not at the meher itself.

Then that's their problem. Whoever wants qaad can collect it. That includes neighbours and random people from the area. Why do you think all marfishes now do not tolerate people coming in with qaad purchased elsewhere?
They wont even allow you to pay one or 2 mijins extra because whenever there's a meher, people will get the free qaad from there.
