You know I LOVE the name Saylac-Zeila.

Cadale - means Cadey Leh, they have the traditional Somali toothbrushes and according to my mum you see it before you reach the Town.

Adan Yabal - named after a man

Caddow Uul - Uul means dark pitch black, and Caddow comes from Cad - light. Don't know the story behind that name, Addow told me what Uul meant.

Xamar - Probably means 'gold' since the sand is whiteish/gold, but who knows maybe centuries ago it was reddish. :?

Would love to know the meaning/names behind; Afgooye, Jowhar, Mahadweyen, Balcad, Marka and Baydhabo.

Wanna read a speculation of what Dosa-mareeb mean? If you divide the name into two parts: "Dosa/Dusa" is the name of a clan from the tribe of Zahran who historically dwelled/dwells in Southern Saudia/Yemen whereas Mareeb/Ma*reeb/Ma'rib is the name of a well known dam in Yemen and city of Ma'rib was the capital at one point. It's like in the west, there was York in England and then immigrants named their new home by New York!
