In the U.K it goes:

1) Primary School
2) Secondary School
3) College
4) University

What bout the U.S
Well there is
Headstart or Preschool (optional)
Kindergarten
Elementry (Year 1-5)
Middle School (Year 6-8)
Or Junior High (7-9)
High School (9-12)
Then College for two years (2 years if you don't go straight to university after highschool, but it finishes 2 years of University time and it's cheaper.)
or Straight to University (4 years) usually for BS
Masters at University
Doctorate at University (Grad school)

Pretty simple really :|

in college you get Diploma and its more technical.
colleges are meant for under performers from GCSE.
in Uni you get Degrees.

A small correction:

Colleges are not for those who underperform in their GCSE's. Colleges offer a variety of qualifications and courses, including A-levels (without which most universities will not accept you). It really depends on what you study at college. A-levels can be studied either at colleges or sixth forms; one not neccesarily being better or more usual than the other.

---

Qoraxeey,

Colleges and Universities are completely different. A university offers under-grad and post-grad qualifications whereas colleges offers further education in the forms of a wide variety of qualifications, including but not limited to vocational courses, A-levels, Btecs etc.

Why do you use school, college and university interchangeably :?:

Thanks.

I never doubted it would be simple but why does it seem Americans use school, college and university interchangeably :?:
