FAH,

I will pass it on to the Governor & Mayor. The guy is a very well meaning guy with a nice posh office in X-Weyne.

If it is really true that only the Port in the Capital Generates more money than Somaliland and Puntland combined, than it was one heck of an embarrassment.

Those were the old days we await Fresh tricks since Caasho days. Apart from threats from a toothless adminsteration who are loosing power to the pirates and have been reduced to a single city government, they have lost political high ground and it looks like they are on a slippery slobe.

Their current silence is merely the inability to fake a strong front as a consequence of the 750 hostages being held between Bossasso and Gaalkaio. Constant assassination of their Mps, their recent misadventure in the Sool area, the 6 police shot by pirates.

 I must say they have good control over their media.

Puntland will never be in a position to totally abandon the TFG, they created the damn thing.

When you make a claim such as "mogdishu port makes more many than the whole Somaliland economy" you'd be taken more seriously if you produced some figures to back up your arguments.

Today Hargeisa's population is argubly bigger than Moqdisho's population, the people in Hargeisa's have more to spend as a consequence of many reasons such as stability, peace and a very large diaspora responsible for injecting upwards of £500million in to the Somaliland economy per annum. Berbera port is responsible for servcing the needs of the growing populations in Hargeisa, Burco, Boroma and bari, while Mogdishu must compete with another southern such as kismayo. All logic tells us that its not possible for Mogdishu to have a higher turnover then Berbera port let alone the entire nation of Somaliland.

My adive to you guys is for your own sake and everybody elses, please, have some "xishood"

Paidmonk,

I have a friend who visited there. The little areas around the AMISOM controlled parts around the Airport/Port are actually not bad areas at all, relatively safe and very vibrant (Somali standards). Also keep in mind Mogadishu while it is the epicentre of chaos in Somalia still has a population of 2 million people. Common sense would dictate with decent faclities (port/airport), recognition of the Countries Capitol (Aid money), and the potential economic activity the millions of dollars of money that is spent there ofcourse it would make it the most important town in Somalia. Botton line is if Mogadsihu is captured by anybody, the rest of Somalia is a cake walk. 2 million friggin people is 2 million people and thats a big number for a town/district in Somalia.

Berbera port isn't even half as active as Mogadishu, who are you kidding?

Most non-governmental organizations working in Somalia place Bosaso as the most active port and also the most successful one despite it lacking deep sea capacities.

Meesha maxaa khiyaali lagu haya, if Mogadishu port makes so much money, where the hell does it go? it sure don`t go to the people who are stranded in the refugee camps.

And Hargeisa is no where near Mogadishu in terms of population.

Taas laiskuma haysto. Lacag meesha wey soo gasha no doubt though.

In my opnion the average person in Somaliland/Puntland lives signifigantly better than the average person in Mogadishu. That being said the richest person in MOG lives 100x better than the richest in Somaliland/Puntland.

Murax Inadeer I understand where you are coming from, but the richest person in Mogadishu don`t have the liberty to move around the city with out fearing for his life. The most expensive thing a person can lack is peace and stability.

Other then that, Mogadishu was not named the pearl of Africa for no reason.

You're actually 100% right. Whats the point of living large in a place where if You go 20 yards in the wrong direction You're risking being blown into smitherenes by a car bomb.
