Grand pa, Horta who wears dirac's in public? it's meant to be worn to weddings, parties, shaashsaars, etc.

Ok I see it makes sense of course. I thought it was just some are see though on purpose. But don't all women wear googarad and bra making it not see through??

Yeah googarad and bra is a must, otherwise you are basically naked, but still waa some-what see through, because of the material.

#1 cultural backwardness:

Not wanting for ur brother what u want for urself. just on Snet alone if "good news" is posted about a region where ur qabiil doesnt live, wallahi very few people will be afraid to even comment and praise . I'm guessing its "Xasidnimo", mixed with fear of someone else (even from ur own qabiil) saying Waryaa waxaa ka galay. This soo true in real life too, with Somalis. Islamnimo and humanity extends beyond regional borders and countries. :|

Wallahi nabeela if you go to weddings there is usually intermixing going around. I mean if you think the dirac is not exposed to men in these events your living in your own world.

Don't some women wear dirac in public but its not the flashy wedding-type ones. I never saw dirac as see through but I guess its just some areas which will be see through like the back isn't that the only area that could be seen

it doesnt matter you still dance to it..remind of a history my sheikh cousin once told me...he told me back in the days when europeans use to go to africa to capture slave's.
a band of european slavetraders went to africa to get some slave's..but the africans found out the slavetraders where on their way to their village..so all the africans left the village and went into hiding in the jungle and since the europeans didnt knew the african jungle very well they couldnt find them..so as they where about to leave and go back to their ship one guy came up with a very bride idea..he said guys maybe if we start playing drums they might come out of their hidding so europeans start playing drums..and after a couple of minute's..afrikaankii iyagoo dabada wada ruxuya oo is daba socdo beey meesha ka soo baxeen..kuligood shabaq baa lagu xiray wana la kaxeeystay...bal arintaas ka tali..

Bro, I think you are confusing the dirac with baati, the dirac is a see through, but the baati isn't, it sort of looks like dirac but is not a see through.

It sort of reminds me what this lady was telling me about Jamaica, she said there is a loud music playing at every corner and you must dance whenever you approach the music, otherwise people will look at you strangely and reer baadiyo.

Hey, I never said I dance to it, Niiko can be an art you know, if done correctly.

Yes sorry I am thinking of baati of course. Dirac is the very thin material but if you wear long googarad and bra and on top of that gabasar no one will be able to see through it.

I thought people now do Niiko at only female weddings and its more rare these days to even see it at inter-gender weddings

That is not always the case, In my neck of the woods 80% of the weddings are intermixed, niiko and all kind of stuff goes on.
