Bashar al-Assad did this to himself. Blaming some western conspiracy for protests? How about being an asshole and murdering people's families for decades?

the best way forward is to grant emnity for people like him. He faires for his life that he is not going to have a fair trail.

We all seen what the Libyans did to Qadafi? were they really better than him? really really better, civilized than him?

yes he is a big time flower..
Whats going on is that the alawi top brass are running the show, they no longer pretend that Bashar is running the show.
Its a fight to the end, now if they lose they will retreat to their homeland the alawi mountains and continue fighting.

This will most likely be a civil war like lebanon, not Libya.
