Ex Barakat is split to three.
( Telcom or was it Golis - headquarters Puntland majority owned by Majerteens i believe)
( Hormuud headquarters based in Mogadishu majority owned by Cayr - Habar gedir)
(Telesom headquarters based in Hargeysa majority owned by Cidangalle - Garhajis).

Garhajis & Hawiye are in a alot of business partnerships that includes Qaran express, Zaad Service Somaliland & Zaad Service South Somalia.
Hormuud is majority Dudubley, not Ceyr.

I can just picture it now. All Somali owned companies will reveal their ownership based on tribe in their annual accounts lool.

For example BP will give a break down of their ownership, i.e. 50% qatari wealth fund, 10% uk pension funds etc. Somali companies will reveal the tribe of their ownership, 10% issaq, 40% hawiye etc in their annual accounts

We don't know the name of the owners, but we supposedly know their tribe   Mind you some of these companies have a lot of investors, for example the biggest in telcoms Hormud have got 600 shareholders, so the people who write the news supposedly know the tribes of 600 ppl
More than 600 Somali investors have shares in Hormuud Telecom

RovingMadness is it. I though it was majority HG. Thanks for the correction anyway.

*Nobleman* somalis operate on clan & regionalism. If a somali company headquarters is based in Hargeysa obvisiouly it's most likely a Somaliland owned business. If a somali owned business headquarters is based in Mogadishu it's mostly like Hawiye. If a somali company headquarters is based in Puntland it's most likely dooro.

This is not the days of the kacaan era where anyone could invest without the locals support.

*Nobleman* that wasn't the point though. The point is if somebody claims a big company based in sland majority of it's share belongs to southerners without any shred of evidence when it's headquarters is Hargeysa and not Mogadishu or the other southern towns. That mostly only operates & builds Somaliland while doing remarkable things for the people of Sland out of wadaniimo. It doesn't make sense to claim it's owned by non Somalilander's. Which is the reason why the website that originally posted it immedietly deleted the misleading news.

Besides wuxu Liqaaye the original poster of this topic la so orday has been proven to be bogus as the only website to post this fabricated news has already deleted it.

End of discussion. One should abstain of spreading lies against sland companies because of it's remarkable successes in Somaliland. It's usually people who fear competition that spread lies about the company.

Saciid85,

The majority shareholders of Telesom could or could not be Hawiye. Unless, I take the time to personally verify there is no way I can know this. But your idea that every shareholder will build the HQ of their company in their clan territory doesn't hold water. For instance,we all know that Mogadishu is essentially a war-zone and that most of the business-people that hail from this city have opted to take their business to safer territories. Nairobi, Dubai, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa to name a few. It goes without saying that Hawiye business-people who are the majority in Somalia have been busy investing in Somaliland for the past few years and the idea of them acquiring majority stakes in leading Isaaq companies doesn't mean much. It happens throughout the world, when folks have hard capital, they invest it. It is a win-win situation for both Isaaq and Hawiye because you guys have stable territories and we have the money. It is business 101

Again the Majority of the Share holders of Telesom is Reer Konfureed

Suldaan Maxamed Suldaan C/Qaadir, oo ka mid ah madax dhaqameedka ugu magaca weyn Somaliland, ayaa sheegay in mulkiileyaasha ugu badan ee shirkada Isgaadhsiinta TELESOM ay ka soo jeedaan koonfurta dalkii Soomaaliya ee Somaliland xornimadeeda kala soo noqotay.

"Shirkada TELESOM nimanka ugu fursada badan (Saamiga ku leh) waa reer Koonfureed (Soomaaliya), haddana waa niman maal gelinaya Somaliland oo looma diidi karno oo cidii maal gelinaysa dalkeena uma diidi karno,"ayuu yidhi Suldaan Maxamed Suldaan C/Qaadir oo shir jaraa’id shalay ku qabtay Huteelka Imperial ee magaaladan Hargeysa.

Qaran News....Suldaan Maxamed waxa uu sheegay inaanu shirkada SOMCABLE iyo muwaadin Maxamed Aw-Siciid aanu u diidayn in la siiyo qandaraaska dalka lagaga hirgelinayo isgaadhsiinta badda hoosteeda la marinayo isagoo arrintaasi ka hadlayayna waxa uu yidhi "Anigu uma diidani Muwaadin Maxamed Aw Siciid in la siiyo Isgaadhsiinta Kaybalka oo uu ahaa muwaadinkii codsigii ugu horreeyay keensaday. Maxamed Aw Siciid waa nin muwaadin ah DALCOM ma haysato, TELESOM-na ma haysato iyagaaba u baahan inay kaybalkooda ka qaataan oo la isticmaalaan."

"Isgaadhsiinta kaybalku wuu soo socdaa Aniga (shacbiga) kaybalka ayaa inoo isgaadhsiin jabnaanaya, makra adeegaasi hirgalo dhakhtar dambe oo dibada loo tagayaa jirimaayo oo adiga oo Hargeysa jooga ayaa laysar lagugu qalayaa. Nin dambe oo jaamacad dibadeed master ku soo diyaarinayaana ma jiro oo adigoo gurigaaga jooga ayaad Internet-ka wax ku baranaysaa, waxa haboon in dadweynuhu ay fahmaan ahmiyada kaybalkan waxay u haystaan uun Telefoon yar,"ayuu yidhi Suldaan Maxamed Suldaan Cabdiqaadir.

Waxa kale oo uu Suldaanku naqdiyay xeerka isgaadhsiinta ee dhawaan Golaha Wakiiladdu ansixiyay waxaanu xeerkaasi ku sifeeyay mid sharci darro ah oo ka hor imanaya qodobada dastuuka qaarkood.

RovingMadness you made some good points. However one must consider that Hawiye lands are not all in anarchy as some would like to potray at times there is Galckayo that is peaceful and many other towns those investments could have gone to. I have just researched and found out Gudoomiyaha shirkaada Telesom ee Somaliland is Cidangalle although i would do a full research on regarding the stakehold last i remember i was reading a website that showed 60% of the company stakeholders being Cidangalle. At the end of the day though i agree this is both win win situation for Isaaq & Hawiye, Hawiye get to invest in peaceful areas far away from anarchy and those companies create jobs for local Isaaqs and local Isaaq businessman have a stake in it.
