Absolutely amazing!!! Thanks Hangadh Ugaas for posting this.
This is a Maxaad Aadan/Bahgeri wedding near Mareereey. The video looks old so it could be few years old. For those of you who don't know much about the rich culture of Ogaaden Waamo, this is a Saar folklore. Remember that there are many places in greater Somalia where Saar is known to be something of Sheydaan play. No, this is a traditional Waamo dance that actually resembles Dhaanto; it just happens to be called Saar...The poetry and the literature is exactly that of Dhaanto. Remember Careys Ciise Kaarshe; his poems were known as Saar which is basically what the woman in this video is doing. Careys Ciise was Awrtable by birth, but he was basically nin Ogaadeen waamo as he had always lived with Ogaden in Waamo.
As someone who have seen most of Ogaden folklore dances, the OG reer Waamo have better cultural dances than their kins in Ogadenia. Saar and Diisoow are much better than Dhaanto when it comes to rhythm, cadence, dance moves, emotions and the women's involvement. See a live Diisoow or Saar dance, and talk to me after. Dhaanto is a great traditional dance but I take Diisoow and Saar anytime!!!
Ilkacase representing Saar
Careys Ciise Saar:
There was a youtube video someone posted a year ago about Diisow but I can't find it.
In Ogadenia, the Bah-Geri are known to be the best Dhaanto players; and in Waamo; they are the masters of both Diisoow and Saar Too bad, we don't have any Bahgeri on Somalinet to explain to us why the Beesha is so good at those folklore dances.

I prefer the traditional original dhaanto straight from Ogadenia then the one in Waamo...it doesn't even come close..but OG reer Waamo have a unique culture

Queen, Diisow is what the OGs were jamming to when they liberated Bay, Bakool, Gedo, Jubbas then crossed over to Tana River all the way to Nairobi. It is unique warrior/victory dance

Yeah this dance looks kind of like goobile but faster. Horta waxaan idiin weydiiyey wax aan dhaanto aheyn ogadenia kama ciyaartiin, kasoo qaad saylici ama jaandheer idinku (qabiil ahaan) miyaad ka ciyaartiin.
