Ali Mahdi and Shariif were never military guys, I think Mahdi was a businessman and Shariif was just an organization leader - the UIC didn't even have a militia at the time, they were just the political and financial wing.

that still counts for sharif he used to fight against warlords then ethipians plus he had militias nd he leaded them with his AK. ali madi also was a warlord and had militias of his own.

He was never the head of Central Bank, he was once a Director and important figure in the Commercial & Savings Bank. But I wouldn't brag about Faroole's record in Somalia's financial institutions, my father and adeer (Dad's cousin) kicked him out of the Savings & Commercial Bank in the 1980s. Even Said Barre praised the dismissal of Tuuga Faroole.
