I may not be a secularist but i will give you my 2 cents.
bismillah arahmane arahim
We are created as imperfect beings in an imperfect environment. We are instructed to Read(Iqra), seek knowledge and continue to expand our understanding. Mankind eventhough awarded with the gift of sentience is an infant in the presence of the allmight creator. Mankind is also gifted with freewill and infinite choices. We have been given guidance as a road map, we have guidance as a rule of measure, we have guidance as a form of constraint, we have guidance to remind us of our duty and guidance to maintain a communal perspective and preserve it. This guidance aids us in relating to other neighbouring communities and maintain our responsibilities to them.
Human beings have not been equiped to comprehend the completeness of Allah(swt) and therefore each man portrays only his impressions of Allah(swt) and each man projects his interpretations of the guidance of Allah(swt). Prophet(scw) said the number of sects in islam will become 73.
Politics be it at state level or at international level requires a degree of flexibility and innovation it requires a
lesser guidance open to change and revision in order to cater to both islamic and non-islamic recepients, partners, neighbours, sponsors, investors, friends and foes.
Alcohol is haraam however to safe ones life the flexibility exists for alcohol to be consumed as a form of medicen!
This is my summary opinion:
There is a time and a place where it would be appropraite to govern with a pure Sharia system. The inherent imperfections of the Somali and the somali minds set makes sharia system in their environment an act of irresponsiblity. Speaking within the context of somalia and somalis. The most sensible aproach is a seperation of State politics and state religion. Considering the simple fact that 100% of the population are muslim there is no risk of religious degradation. Sharia enfluence can then take an organic merger into future politics as the education level increases. It is inhumane and in my opinion against the guidance of the Creator to apply strick sharia when over 60%(let us say the majority) of the population have no understanding of the guidance specifically the political application fo sharia.
The imperfection of man impudes descent on the most perfect systems of governance... Cirwaaq
An educated man applying a secularist idiology is closer to following Allah's guidance than and an ignorant man applying sharia law. Allah(swt) has the final say on all matters and any man that sees fit himself to speak in place of Allah(swt) has himself adjoint a partner unto him by declaring himself and equal to allah(swt). Only Allah(swt) has the power to send the best of us to Hell and the Worst of us to heaven if it so suites.
