I hate to sound negative, but your Daily Mail is anti-immigrant, anti-foreign aid, generally neo-conservative isolationist. This article is trying to make the case for the Daily Mail's political position.

On the subject, what economy does Somaliland have? What does it produce? There are three industries in Somaliland and indeed throughout the rest of Somalia;

1. Foreign aid
2. Remittance
3. Services that exist on remittance (Dahabshiil, etc as well as assortment of small business that in symbiotic relationship with remittance)

Does Somaliland get foreign aid? Somaliland is not a recognized country so it is not eligible for major bilateral investment between nations or loans from nations or international insitutions, but in all of the humanitarian yearly aid provided to Somalia, Somaliland gets its cut under the name of "Somalia".

For example, here is the USAID's foreign aid emergency report for Somalia and notice there is no distinction between Somaliland regions and Somalia regions

With all due respect Mr Voltage, your whole post was completely and utterly useless. I can’t even honestly fathom why on earth you found it useful to write that drivel. What was your actual point of this trivia?

I honestly can’t make sense of your motives for this ramble. Where you trying to criticize and condemn the daily mail? Are you attempting to effectively prove Somaliland is reliant on foreign aid, and thus compare it to Somalia as a whole, through the use of one source it seems?

And that is what we call blowing a hot load.

The article talked about foreign aid. Can you disprove Somaliland, instead of actually being reliant on foreign aid (which I can prove), doesn't get any?

So the point you are making is that Somaliland is actually very reliant on foreign aid, thus disproving this article in entirety?
So this is the point you’re truly making.
Ok I'm glad we clarified that, ok as you were please carry on your debate.

I didnt read the article, but I really don't get how can anyone make a baseless claim such as" SL doesn't get foreign aid" for development.like really? how about some facts here
1)60% of the British aid money to Somalia goes to the triangle of SL
2).The local NGO's in Somalia sought $87 million in projects in SL last year alone http://www.irinnews.org/printreport.aspx?reportid=92715.
3)most SL public buildings are entirely or partially paid for by aid agencies
4)SL just received a USAID aid package on testosterone after the announcement of the U.S dual track policy.
and there are endless examples
i would like to see any factual evidence this article or those few white lunatics would bring to support their claim.SL,just like the rest of Somalia, SL not only gets a foreign aid ,but it gets the biggest share of foreign aid compared to the rest of Somalia.

Samadoon, the point is the Daily Mail didn't do this to make Somaliland look good. They did it to aid their domestic position of ending all foreign aid and by skewering reality in Somaliland, they are trying to say "hey look, Somalia gets aid and it is mad max world, while Somaliland gets none and its great!". They are trying to score domestic poilitical points because they are against giving foreign aid at all. Somaliland isn't better than Somalia, because it doesn't get aid (in fact it survives on aid), it is marginally better because it has peace while Somalia is still mired in conflict. That is the only reason and the statics from some of the biggest foreign aid donors to Somalia is evidence enough.

Chuckle chuckle chuckle. Ladies and gentlemen another comedian has entered the building. So not only do you make emotive statements, you are also a stand-up comedian.
Please Mr samadoon , before you make another emotive statement I shall kindly leave.
PS. Don't cry when racial quotas bite you on the ass, and you lose a promotion to someone who is more of a minority than you. It will hit many a man very soon/

The cynic is back, and he is doing what he does best critiquing things looking for answers in the wrong places. So really this is a conspiracy and has ulterior motives?

Fantastic we have a regular Sherlock Holmes on our case. However, Mr Holmes you don’t believe that the whole world covering the famine crisis and every tom, ceeb and harry talking about it doesn’t smell fishy. Where is your conspiracy hat my good man, do you work part time?

In comparison to Somalia or any other African nation, Somaliland receives peanuts. What little it receives is used to build a democratic peaceful nation surrounded by chaos.
