Yup, in the beginning when they were considered a nationalist group fighting against Ethiopian invasion and before they were labeled a terrorist organization around the world. Before they committed suicide bombings, or starved people, or tried to lure young teenage boys from the West to fight for them, and when they were considered able to negotiate peace with the TFG and conclude the civil war.

Hardly equates to your cousin supporting them here and now in 2011 a bonafide terrorist organization that has threatened the very nation he lives in comfort and uses up its services.

I don't support al-Shabab in it's current form. I do however find it ironic that the epicentre of the most barbaric and medieval cult is the marexaan regions and it's led with even more irony by an Isaaq.

All I can say is that what goes around comes around. I dont support Al Shabaab, however, a little part of me does purely because I believe the Southerners are getting a mild taste of what we Somalilanders went through in 88-91. And its even better knowing that its a Northerner (Godane) calling all the shots. But I think know they have suffered enough and it should come to a stop. Extremism is the devil's work.
