How the kids turn out has nothing to do with how many kids are in the family. I know tons of families that have 1 or 2 kids and the kids ended being lost causes. Poor parenting is the problem. A good parent can raise 6 kids just as well as they can raise 1 kid. Of course it is more difficult but it is not impossible.

I don't see a correlation on the number of children a family has and how successful the children become, rather if there's a father figure in the mix. My close Somali friend is the youngest of 7 kids, all of which are uni graduates with six-figure salary jobs. I also know of ciyaal-suuqs who only have 1-2 siblings that grew up without a dad.

What if the oldest of the kids is no more than 7 and has 4 or 5 siblings? So qof oo libraryga geeya o lafadhiistaa so uma baahnaa? When you have too many kids you will find it impossible to give each child the necessary time or attention they deserve.
There should be family planning programmes on Somali TV, like how to use a condom, other birth controls etc.

I have cousins who have 10 sibling and 6 of them graduated from OSU, three of the six are going for their master's. Two now attend another Uni outside of the state for their bachelors. I think one or two are left in high school.
I can name so many families who have a football team in their house but put their quantity in use. Matter fact, the situation is not only amongst Somali. Most foreigners do this shit. It's not a bad thing. They just need to know how to raise 'em.

BINGO! Is all about a father figure, one more thing, just because they graduted from uni and have great jobs doesnt mean they're good muslims and have akhlaaq and deen.Imsa khamiri caba oo tunta hadana jaamacdu ka baxay oo shaqooyen heer sare leh.

When you see a woman draging 5 kids plus a baby you should've asked urself, where is the sperm doner who conceived these children with her?..is he home watching TV chiling with a cup of tea in his hand or in som God forsaken mafrish? muxuu caruurta uga reebiy waayey markey suuqa tageyso?
It's not about how many kids, it's all about having kids with the right person. If the guy is not willing to share responsiblity with them why continue have more kids with with him.Lax kasta mesha ay is dhigto aya lagu qala.Naagahan iyaga waxaas oo dhib ah isugu wacan, we're not back home anymore and having all kinds o help.Every woman is depended on her husband in the west and if the husband is out of the window masuuliady dhamed hooyada ayey saaran tahay.Imsa naagood ba meshan ku waashey. We're only humans and our brain doesn't take much.

I was trying to pull your leg
Lakin there are loads of after school activities, homework clubs, weekend games and so on and so forth that are organised by schools, admittedly the better schools and if not by the council. When I was younger we had tuiton where a teacher would come over and give us a class and we had bicycles and footballs and we could play outside. Life is different in the West but not that different.
I have 7 siblings and I am still close to my parents, I can't imagine being one of three or God forbid an only child. The argument for me is personal because I had/have a good experience of the "big Somali family" but I see where you are coming from because there are parents who pop kids but don't raise them. But like SexyK said, not all.

If one is not capable to be there for the children they're going to bring into this world financially as well emotionally (which is a factor we, Somalis, ignore) then less children is preferable in my idea.
Pop children like cats in this mean, selfish, dangerous world and neglect their important needs is silly to me.

Well, Im blaming the men as well. I see Faraxs who can hardly take care of 1 family, then finds another woman to reproduce with. The whole predicament is tragic really.
