Egypt said it will never recognize Somaliland. The new government may change that but... it is looking more and more like the military will still have one of their own in power or be the real power behind Egyptian politics even if there is a civilian government that comes after the elections.

Egypt wants Somalia to be one country, not a scattered amount of states that may side with other African countries along the Nile such as Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda because Egypt/North Sudan have monopolized the water resources due to colonial agreements.

Egypt believes anything that comes out of Mogadishu will be its ally.
