There is drought in the region but famine only in South central Somalia. Kenya and ethiopia have governance and are preaceful so aid and help reaches the people.
Please, regions in Ethiopia and Kenya which border Somalia are government less regions at times. These so called governments hardly control such vast regions; all they have small military outposts and local militias. A real government presence is nowhere to be seen. Have you seen the drought in Ethiopia and Kenya is bad as Somalia without a doubt, especially Kenya. Ethiopia is blocked off and most likely is worse than Somalia(My suspicion)
AID agencies are heavily restricted in Ethiopia and don’t even adventure into certain regions of the Ogaden.
Sorry, I don’t believe it one bit

Interesting. So what are you hinting at?

Overall, there is a massive drought in Somalia. No question there, however, I don’t believe there is a famine. I think the situation is being overstated for political reasons.
The Famine word is being used to demonize and discredit Al Shababa and create friction in their supporters’ base and increase the hate towards them from the Diaspora. I don’t support Al Shabab but this is my view.
I think it is immensely odd that the famine respect international borders and has respect for Al Shabab’s borders. It could be a mere coincident but I highly doubt it.
As I stated regions in Kenya and Ethiopia along the Somalia border are even more barren and drier than Somalia. Regions in Southern Somalia are greener than Ogaden and NFD combined. Yet there is no famine, however, videos coming from these regions depicts the same extent of the drought as Somalia. I think Ethiopia’s situation is grave as Somalia, however due to fighting in the region and media blockade, the situation is being reported accurately
This is my hutch
