The Arsi region is mostly 5 to 10 thousand feet above sea level. That's considered highland.

I think it's a name that got stuck during his freshy days, you know how in school teachers shorten Somali names like abdirizaq, abdishakuur, abdulwahab etc as ABDI, same with MO for Mohamed.
