Sad really, ever Somali, old or young should know about him, their should be documentaries, Movies, actions toys (of darawiish soldiers), books etc.
Insha'allah future text books should dedicate a chapter or two to his legacy
Also Ahmed Gurey, Hiraabu, Imam Nuur

If I have a son I plan to name him Sayid. Sayidka is a personal hero of mine. So many of my relatives died fighting alongside him against the colonialists.

I am proud of that fact wallahi.

The Mad Mullah was a hero for going against the colonials. Now what happened between The Mullah and Somali clans is something totally different and shouldn't be used to erase him from Somali History. At the end of the day he is part and parcel of Somali history and should be acknowledge as such.
awoowgey bu waran ka taagay (is no reason to to take credit away from where its due) but he also had Kofi's head on plate, or was it on the dirt?

That is no surprise. Sayid Mahamed Abdille is hardly known by the youth of Mogadishu or Hargeysa let alone be recognized as a hero. Perhap he can be known and a hero in Kismaayo? or elsewhere.

It's like an Iraqi Sunni asking a kurd or a shite " how come you don't know or glorify Saddam Hussein-the liberator of Iraq"

I read a poem sometime back about the death of Corfield and I did find it quite funny, Mohamed Abdulah Hassan had sense of humor!

Its not about glorifying or making historic characters into heroes. It is about teaching Somali HISTORY. Just as people will learn about Siad Barre and the civil war events, they should learn about the Sultanates and the 'pre-modern' history of Somalis in the horn.
From the Darwishes to the SNM to the SSDF to the USC to the UIC to the TFG to the Al-shabab etc ALL of the events that took place on any Somali soil should be taught.

Yes indeed the old man had a sense of humour and a natural born poet.
This is another example of Somalis finding something in anything Somali. I can understand having an issue with the man because of his clan and what he did to some clans but at least give the man a credit for saying Yur! to the waraabe. The man also killed more of his kin than any other clan so at least we know he wasnt qabilist
Oh if only we were as vigilant against the Ethiopians and outsiders the way we are towards each other.
