Re: Somali run property project in Tanzania
Looks nice. In the globalized world, people will invest their money where they can be sure their assets will be protected under the rule of law. In Somalia, there's a high probability that some goat shagger tribes men will come from the bush and try to claim the development as his based on bogus tribal land ownership.

Re: Somali run property project in Tanzania
is this project exclusively run by Somalis? wow!
how could they invest so much money in a foreign African country!!! how could someone be rest assured to have the guts to invest in such huge amount of wealth in Africa, a continent with its ever-increasing reputation as the most "corrupt, unstable, uncivilized, brutal, prone to wars" continent in the world?
even large and powerful american and European companies who are able to withstand huge losses are reluctant and afraid to invest in Africa, much less about small-scale Somali companies. there are no property laws in Africa and what the governments want always tops all the other things. plus they could lose their properties for no reason or war can break out, as simple as that.
investing in your own country is not only a noble undertaking but patriotic.
even if i had millions of dollars, i wouldn't have never invested in Africa, except my country, Somalia, which i dearly love.
shame on them for being cowards!!!

As a matter fact, one of the men pulled out of this project and he is investing the booming telecommunications business in Somalia. The guy in the photo, Salleebaan, complained about putting his money in a country like Tanzania. That was in 2008.Executive wrote:udun wrote:My understanding is the Tanzanian government intervened this project and Treasury department put a hold on some of the projects. As far as I know, this group is not investing in Tanzania any more.
Here we go again, This reminds me of your Dahabshiil stories and other fake claims you run around with on the forum. The Tanzanian government is a shareholder in this project. Last time I was in Tanzania I saw the project going on myself.
They are selling off plan and finished properties as we speak, and there posting updates on the website if you have a look. Local banks are even offering mortgages to buyers since last week.
It is well-known fact that Tanzania is one of the worst country to do business in East Africa.
Ciyaal Warta, I agreed with you Somalis should not be putting their money in overseas country; they should be willing to take the risk to put their money in Somalia. At least, that will employes 100s and 1000s of Somalis. Any infrastructure improvement will also help Somalis.

Beautiful, I wonder why can't the houses in Somalia be built like this? Waxa ka dhisan oo dhan waa wax foolxun, that need to be razed to the ground and built over again.
Re: Somali run property project in Tanzania
I meet him in Tanzania in 2009, and 2010 and he is still the Managing Director. Even the picture I posted is from 2009, at a deal signing in Dar. I know where your hate is coming from, you called the guy a terrorist in another topic.udun wrote:As a matter fact, one of the men pulled out of this project and he is investing the booming telecommunications business in Somalia. You're miskiin if you're trying to educate me about Salleebaan Abdi DualeExecutive wrote:I meet him in Tanzania in 2009, and 2010 and he is still the Managing Director. It is well-known fact that Tanzania is one of the worst country to do business in East Africa.Having been to Tnz several times and seen the success of the somali community over there, I can assure you its not a bad place to make money.
It is true that it sucks to put your money in Tanzania, and there is a reason why Somalis are doing well in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Mosambique in terms of business. The whole country of Tanzania's economic policies is so unpredictable that you could loose all of your investment at the intervention of the treasury department. That is what happened to those guys.
