Currently the war in North Gaalkacyo has stopped, however there is still tension and peace deal has not been reached between warring sides. The Galgala war erupts every fortnight and stops every fortnight. Countless resource war erupts in villages between clans. The assassinations continue everyday, more journalist, politicians and clerics get killed.

In my eyes, Puntland should not ask AMISOM for help, but instead they should strengthen their soldiers and secure places. But AMISOM will not be challenged in Puntland, there is no Al-Shabaab. AMISOM will only peacekeep, therefore I don't think AMISOM will cause damage to Puntland.

faroole requested the troops in june. they're there to establish a joint force and begin training the pl forces.

The Puntland Government requests urgent and long-term security assistance from the international community, as Puntland has been denied its legitimate share of security assistance provided to Somalia by the international community. More than 12,000 soldiers were trained and equipped for the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) with international support, but Puntland was excluded from the training program.

4. Puntland praises the role of the AMISOM peacekeeping force in Mogadishu to bolster the Transitional Federal Institutions. Currently, there is peace in Puntland, which needs to be sustained and strengthened. The Puntland Government requests an AMISOM peacekeeping contingent to be deployed in Puntland to establish a Joint Force and to begin training security forces inside Puntland.

tbh, i don't know if 2000 amisom troops are being deployed soon or have already been deployed, but faroole did ask for their assistance in june so the story could be true.
