How can you even put Siyaad Barre in the same freaking sentence with C/Yusuf, Caydiid and so forth?

The Kacaan i see them as two parts
The Good part
The first 10 years
Somalis were self reliant and were building their nation the economy was in good shape infrastructure was being given the first priority and Corruption was fought also Equality between Somalis was promoted. The Military of the Somali democratic republic was the 3rd strongest army in Africa more than 50 Factories were build,, the Somali republic was a supplier to many Arab Nations. The African union summit was held in Mogadisho in 1974 Somalis generally were a proud nation the iska wax u qabso Projects were a inspiration for Many Somalis to do something for themselves. The private sector was booming. the Somali republic was the liberator of many African countries there is a siyad bare street in Uganda. My Father told me he was with a UN delegation in Nigeria in 1971 and he Said The Somali republic was So looked up two in the entire western African nations, The Somali Democratic republic was seen as a symbol of African pride and freedom.
The Things that went wrong the Killings of the Wadaaads the MOD alliance and after the failed coup d'état in 1978 the Persecution of the Majeerteen , the Marginalization of the Isaaq the Clannish Corruption of the Government the killings of the Isaaq Colonels and Generals after the 1977 War in Wajaale. The Monopolization of the economy of the country by Some Communities of the Somali republic. The mistreatment of the hawiye Clan the lack of Democracy and improvements and change in the Country The Jazeera massacre in Mogadishu in 1989 which resulted more rebellion by the Majority of the Somalis. The Somali military being used to fight Clanish wars which resulted mass defection to the rebel groups, the nepotism and favoritism by High Government officials.
And that's how it went

Emperior, welcome back.
You must understand that, in 1977, Gebeyre, Cirro, Caqile and other TOP Military officials massacred High Ranking Government or Military Officials in JigJiga, and other places in Somali Galbeed, during the 1977 war, resulting in the Kacaan loosing one of it's most brightest Somali leaders, advisers, civilian and military alike.
Now, instead of working with the Kacaan, your friends, uncles, brothers and fathers went to Mengistu, Somalia's Arch enemy and asked for HELP, to destroy Somalia.
Now, does it make sense for someone to be helped by Mengistu and say that he or she is Wadani?

Re: Happy 21st Of October (42 years and Counting...)
good points, but I would say the best period of the government was up to the 1977 war. Even though in this period it was still an authoratarian rule: wadaads killed; senior officials murdered (generals gabeyre, caynaanshe and colonel dheel); arresting opposition.The_Emperior5 wrote:The Kacaan i see them as two parts

Eonomically we were booming but the ogaden war crushed us financially mentally and started the decline of the republic: with nepotism; corruption; brutal murders and daily arrests.
I believe that the senior members of the government should have stepped down after the war and allowed free voting for a new government.

Turbulence, waxa kaga daran, kan Cumar Labasuul iyo Emperior, trying to undermine the legitimacy of Kacaankii. A picture is worth a THOUSAND words. 20 years and not a SINGLE Somali Leader or Government manage to build ONE thing equivalent to what Dawladii Kacaanka build.

It's 20th of October and I'm feeling electrified.

Barre alone didnt do good. The government consisted of a lot of educated individuals one of whom was Siilanyo as the Minister of Planning who made a lot of positive changes but neither did Barre do bad alone.
