Oh come on, on slife someone will accuse you of 'vagina-envy', call you a 'herpes infested middle aged taxi driver' or threaten your mama. On snet, they call you 'hawiye', accuse you of being 'al shabaab' or threaten your qaabil. Its the same ego fueled battles just different weapons. I value the losers of snet more than the losers of slife cuz although they are more likely to be qaabilist at least they can pronounce qaabil

Qabiil* (you elitist scum :D )

Slife wasn't much better than this place, in terms of vulgarity and simply human behaviour. But if we're talking qabiilism, Snet takes the cake. By far. Yes, SOL users have Wiki pages open pretty much all the time, tryna out-smart the next poster, but an elitist that presents well is better than an elitist that doesn't. No? These folks continuously knock Slife, yet, they're just as horrible.

Disgruntled former members go around and vent out their anger n other somali/non-somali forums. However, the truth is that snet forum is larger than all somali forums combined and cannot be compared with smaller forums that target portion of the society. Yes, anybody who wants to learn about somali social fabric can come here and we are not going to sugarcoat or blur the fact by censoring information. Nobody is forced to use snet forums and whoever decides to join in is expected to respect it and its moderators. The best place to badmouth somalinet is obviously not here. No loyalty/no service.

Waryaa,
No doubt somalinet is one of the oldest somali website. It was probably the first somali website with a forum, a chat (what happened to that section?) and the most popular. More than a decade ago before the onset of skype and the diffusion of mobile phones, relatives met on somalinet chat.

Somalinet is the voice of free speech although some people abuse it.

I think this site could even be better if you remove the clan sections (and have a zero tolerance to tribalism). Somalinet should take the lead.

BTW, SOL is a tribal outlet disguised as an intellectual place.

P.s I can't access the link provided by FAH

bro lamgoole, that section is members only and search engines cannot index it. I personally never went there and i am sure many members don't too. Mods have been and still are trying hard to fight clan minded people and many members have been banned.

The chat section is still busy so is the singles section.

Thanks; so the chat sections are still running? I must pay a visit. Walaahi, I remember late 90s when I used to tell my relatives to meet me there; we then went into private rooms to chat. Good old days.

As regards the forums, I think you should be proud of creating the first and last frontier of free speech.

Tribalism, however, and its promotion should be fought; you need good moderators (some of them already are) but there are some who are not mature enough.

waryaa,

As stated, I feel the issue is individual-based and out of the hands of website owners. I apologize if you feel I've insulted you, but it's clear there are certain members whose posts are race/qabiil focused. Regardless of whatever the efforts are from above, people will still be people. Hat's off to you for promotion of free speech, but I do feel information is censored when members are banned for selective reasons. But mods can't be perfect either.

Lamgoodle,

I can vouch for the chatroom as well. I've been using it on and off for 5+ years, and I've met some great folks through there.

Slife was run by some egotistical, pretentious and dismissive folks. It was a laugh.

Alpha, do you remember those good old days? when we could chat in chatrooms and get into luuq; I have met some great people through the chatrooms.

Some people are abusing the rights of free speech. One strategy to fight tribalism is to remove the clan based forums and the regional forums. They serve no purpose.

It is time for SOMALINET to take the lead and declare a fight on the T word (tribalism).

Nabeela, I will go there! Will you be there?

I have checked and it appears not be working!

The difference btw SNET and SOL is that in SNET most of the folks grew up in diaspora. While in SOL they might have been actively been involved in former rebel groups like SNM, SSDF,USC etc.

secondly SOL folks are still qabilists and worse more as even though their pretend not to indulge in qabilist talks , you can pick up from their ideological stand the qabils they support however much they try to put perfume on the Xaar(Qabyalad).
