Baydhabo and her surroundings are truly amazing, for some reason whenever I picture bay and bakool I have the amazon floating in my head. Once not long ago baydhabo was the 4th largest city and a very prosperous region.. Inshallah it will come back to those days....... Reer bay/bakool are the least violent and cuqdad ridden people of all Somalis, and I hope one day that those innocent people will be compensated for the mass scale massacre they suffered in the 90s.

This thread is proof of the selective condemnation some have of alShabaab. BTW I dont believe Bay/Bakool is some sort of heaven right now, the same way I dont believe the TFG is restoring Somalia or is a functioning govt. But fact is many do not have a problem with alShabaab in tactics, violence, or even ideology. They are just upset that they do not subscribe to social norms of the civil war. Its these types who were loud and proud supporters of alShabaab till they realized it wouldn't benefit them monetarily or in terms of power. yeah i am a coastal person too and i don't see myself living in places like baidoa or other non coastal towns. but yet i won't call these cities the least-desirable place to live simply because they are part of Somalia. also, i am not from baidoa and we only drove through it one time when i was a young boy coming to Ethiopia.

if they have peace and they are happy about it, lets just pray for them and that should be it.

Why do we have to invoke our place of birth/tribal homeland/tribe when want to defend wrongs or promote what is right?
