I am also conducting a research on old Banaadiri songs.

Songs are the only thing that connects me to somalia. I bought a guitar and sung Sh Abdalla's song and Burco's song at a wedding once and I had groupies afterwards.

The Banaadir songs have been neglected and stay tuned for a book on that.

I just asked my uncle about these songs and he went back into memory lane. The reason why I remember these songs is because he used to sing it when I was a kid.
Somali fanaans are realy either dead or forgotten. The late and great Cabdinaasir Macalin and qalinle most underrated singers period. Alive now is abdi tahliil who I heard was suffering and a video I will never forget is bacalwaan asking the somali community for help before he died of some disease. Somalis would rather rent big hotels and run around crazy with a somali flag then support our nation treasures.
