3. Car Rental and Escorts - My advice is to keep low key. I travel around in a Mark 2 with two pistol wielding guards. Most times, I go it alone. When I have a visitor from overseas or traveling around in unfamiliar areas, I rent two TFG soldiers one HG and another from the clan area I am going. With foreigners, I say use well known guards who compromise all clans. When you get into a tiff, a guard from that area can help smooth things out.
What are you, maxa sameeysaa  and you can rent TFG soldiers and based on their qabiil

WAryaa,

And saxib, make sure to bring some decent mosquito repellent. These buggers will eat you alive.

Greenday,

I am a businessman. TFG soldiers are available and can be rented. I like to spread the cash around.

Nabeela,

If I did, you may be pleasantly surprised. You would probably prefer the image of the creepy old guy with a bidaar.

Dear Abdiwahab,
Is it safe to travel to Beledxaawo/Buulo Xaawo from Muqdisho? Are there some isbaaros on the roads? Will smokers be stoned by the al-shabaabs?

What is the easiest/safest way to travel to Xamar? I read yesteday on a newspaper that Daalo/Jubba airways have been listed as dangerous to take.;

How are the universities in Xamar doing?

If you are travelling to Monrovia, drop me a line because I will be Angola and Congo in January 2012 and we could meet.

I am sorry for the many questions.

Lamgodle,

You can go overland by minibus. But beware that the AS have seized Somalis from the Diaspora off buses. If you look out of place, you can be detained. They are pretty paranoid in light of the recent airstrikes and believe there are agents among their midst.I wouldn't recommend it. If you need to go to BuloXawo, fly to Mandrea and then taxi to the border.

The most pleasant airline is the Jubba 737 out of Mog. Nice food, the pilot is one crazy Ukranian son of a bitch but an excellent pilot. Its also quite comfortable. The others are also okay, African Express (MD80) and East African Embraer/Beechcraft. P.S. No one will attack these commercial flights as even AS needs to use them.

The Universities are good here. The better ones are Mogadishu U, and Benadir U. Both got some really good faculties and the students are eager to learn. And yes, the univ chicks are good looking :D

Thanks ,
I want to avoid Kenya because it is almost impossible to go to mandera from Nairobi. I was thinking of flying to Adis then take a a landrover to Suuftu/sade... But I was told that takes alot of time.

I will not travel to Al-sheydhaan country because they will probably kill me because I smoke and because I am quite liberal

Yea u need security whether that is family or private security which u pay.

When my cousin and ayeeyo went to Somalia they pretty much had a truck full of security. And Al Shabaab and TFG soldiers do business with each other. They were transported from the airport to the outskirts of Xamar by TFG soldiers who then handed them over to Al Shabaab ones who took them to Afgooye. All it takes is an exchange of money.

Greenday,

When I got foreign guests, we role 4 techniko deep with 30 men.

Shirib,

Its all money. Afgoye is not safe nowdays too many paranoid teenagers with guns looking for spies.

Abti, there is business of all kinds. I dabble in the services business and lately have gotten into construction. It requires a lot of capital to get maximum return. You go in big, cash in big and split. I prefer to use my western business acumen and English skills to win contracts and farm out the work to local Somalis. Nothing beats getting paid to be an agent.

AW, how do you see the culmination of the recent incursions? Do you believe there is any possible way to defeat AS with foreign troops? Also will the TFG survive past this summer?

NoAngst,

Sheik Cisman is alive and well. He can be found in his office in Seybiano. He retired from politics and is concentrating on rebuilding his wealth and renovating Sacadom's hallowed mosques.
