Catholicism chose bishopry over the bible. they would listen to their priests if he told them homosexuality and abortion were allowed.Basra- wrote:"catholics were welcoming to all innovative measures that somehow made religion look more holy and beautifying the worship"
abakaar i beg to differ. Catholics are naturally ordained to be the real Christian religion. Because they truly followed the genesis of the bible and Jesus teaching. They are more fanatic and adhere strictly to their faith. Catholic and 'innovations' are very far from each other. They are more closed minded, more judgemental and more proned to puritanical outburst. If i were to be a christian, i will be a Catholic. The others are just reformed modern propaganda.
james, do you know what the puritans thought of the restoration settlement?

these guys are the ignorant christians, nonetheless the most loving of their kind. puritans were the ones who wanted to return to the original source of christianity i.e. the gospel and they didnt beleive in an intermediary teaching them anything. by the way, im impressed by your background knowledge of this topic, well done my dear

Thanks for being impressed and also partronizing me.
Its true Catholisism was contaminated by greedy bishops who prooved to be nothing but greedy, selfish oportunistic humanbeings in the end. But i disagree on your point that Catholics do not follow the bible, or the fact that they follow more than the puritans. If the puritans follow the gospel, then they are DEAD WRONG. Did u know that the gospel writer distorted Christianity with loving narration of how things should be according to their likes? Its like the todays al shabaab re-writing Quran--and inserting habar gidir greatness into the goodness of Islam. Ridiculous right?

Re: The real story of Christmas
The Solstice, the standing still of the Sun, is far more important the further north you get in the Northern hemisphere than it is down around the equator in Somalia, where it's barely apparent. At the latitude of the Shetland isles, the Sun essentially disappears when Winter begins, on the twenty-first of December, and does not reappear until roughly the last Tuesday in January, which is celebrated as Up-helly-aa, the coming up of the Sun:

Here's the Solstice celebrated elsewhere. The Christians have no monopoly on this event:
