Shes not saying you guys raped somebody  shout out to 3rd grade literacy levels.

She's calling out not only the rapist but the hundreds of thousands of men back home in somalia who know women are getting raped, but still do nothing to stop it. it's not a generalization, it's a public appeal. if you see a PSA on the tube about strapping up to prevent aids you don't go, "ON MY HONOUR! HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF PREMARITAL SEX! THIS IS BLASHPEMY!" no you just say 'yeah people who do that shit need to hear this." and move on.

Lamgoodle wrote:Dear Somali woman,
Thanks for your letter. Before I respond to some of the issues you stated in your letter could you please tell me the following;
where are you domiciled? In the highlands of Sanaag? the hawd plateu? the riverrines? the shores of warsheikh? or are you in an apartment building somewhere in Canada? the UK? do you speak for all somali women? or are you speaking for the minority in the diaspora who feel that they have gained a testicle or to put it correctly those somali women in the diaspora who have mentally castrated their husbands.? are you by any chance one of those vagina entrepreneurs who talk about their experience at the hands of the lady who circumsized them? Have you ever met a man with his bacdiisa madow who was ordered to pay child support?

Finally, did you as a child read about the legend of Caraweelo?

Kind regards
Lamagoodle, a somali man
The entire world is talking about the rape going on in Somalia, its a big issue and all you can talk about is child support? Child support affects everyone in the West, and if you want to have that discussion it should be in the same context as unemployment/khat/plural marriage etc. I do not mean that every Somali woman who has 'thrown her husband out' is a victim of these things (sometimes she is a bitch), but these are the complaints connected to 'bacda madow' and not the claims in this article. A woman who talks about FGM is not a vagina entrepreneur, that is a sick thing to say considering their stories and hard work are whats ending FGM today. Would you rather a bunch of white men discussed FGM in Somalia? I bet you wouldnt because unlike these sisters, the white dudes in the NGOs would have a million nasty things to say about Somali culture and particularly Somali men.
Funnily enough none of this has anything to do with your balls, if you do not like such a woman, do not try to woo her.

Gedo, Indeed rape is rampant in somalia but writing a few sentences on a website will not solve the problem. I am tired of somali women who talk about FGM (which is rarely done) to get funding for projects. many women have become vagina entrepreneurs, capitalising on the misfortunes of our nation.

I am sick and tired of feminist nonsense.
Anyway, I was just injecting a piece of homour

The article is generalising and demeaning and has alot of factual flaws.

I guess I am an evil man according to her, since I do believe in established gender roles and that God created men and women differently in accordance to their need. Do I believe men and women are equal in the eyes of God in terms of reward and punishment? Of course!
Grandpa...I hope she wouldnt consider you as such because that is backward.

I disagree with gender roles, I do not believe in staying at home etc because I am pretty gifted and would be watsed in the kitchen, like most girls I know. I kind of saw the confrontational side coming, but if you believe her points on rape are valid, you guys are on the same side. we do not all have to be identical in our practise of religion in order to respect that we are all Muslim or Somali. There is a difference between saying that the hijab is better than no hijab etc and forcing women to wear it. I take huge issue with the latter. Also believing that an uncovered woman (no hijbab all the way to leggings and tops) is deserving of rape is a sick idea. People who say that are pro rape. Imagine if your sister decided to dress differently, would you be happy if she got raped?

Nanees...this is what one or two Somalinetters have always been like...Things have changed, back in the day going to university would have got you a 'dh!llo' tag on this site

If a women who chooses to dress in a lude manner is raped the sin falls upon her for inciting and coaxing the rapist. The rapist gets the sin of (zaani) or adulterer. But if he rapes a niqaabi he is a transgressor and a rapist.

"Writing a few sentences wont solve the problem, talking about it wont lead to solving the problem, talking about FGM and campaigning against it wont solve the problem. That is not a great line of logic. You do know campaigning is more than talk, that funds for education, prevention and treatment is also part of the package. That every campaign needs to be seen and discussed to get everyone involved. The New York Times just published an article about rape in Somalia, would you not rather we discussed this as Somalis instead of Western media doing the talking for us?

LMAO

Grandpa...again, if your sister decided to change the way she dresses, even for a month because she had some buufis...would it be OK for some sick bastard to rape her? would your sister have deserved that?
