It's sometimes a side, sometimes not. And "baked beans" aren't the "fool" most us grew up with. It's very different.

beans and tuna..
just pur the contents of a tuna can with some onions into a frying pan, let it simmer for a minute till the onions brown,
then pour the beans and stir..

There are tons of different beans out there, besides the beans for cambuulo/salbuko/falfaliir/misir the most popular beans in Somali community is the red kidney beans, this is the beans that other people make what they call chilli ..The best way to make it if it is from the can is as follows:
1. Saute the onion.
2. Add one tbl of white vinegar.
3.add 2 or 3 choped tomatoes. Stir it well, let it cook.
4. Add 1 or 2 crushed garlic and ciliantro..
5. 1/2 lemon.
6. a pinch of salt and pepper, a pinch of cumin(optional)
7. hot green pepper(optional)
8. Then and then only you add the red kidney beans. Let it simmer around 7 minuties and serve with either canjeero, french bread, bread rolls or even rice...
