-The "Indian ocean" would be known as the "Somali Pond".
- Kenya, Uganda, yemen and tanzania would be colonial provinces.
- Ethiopia would cease to exist.
-The "Red Sea" would actually be red.
Sigh, You can only dream I suppose...

Thanks for this pic!Voltage wrote:Amisom was in Somalia long before now. Here are Ugandan conscripts fighting for the British East Africa war against Marehan. It is from the book The King's African Rifles from Hubert Bartlett. There are only two chapters about Somalis in the book, one about the Mad Mullah and another chapter titled "Marehan Offensive".
We are working on itVoltage wrote:Garuun, I really don't know if the situations are similar. Every situation is unique and in this instance I think Marehan should work for an end goal of independent governance free from Shabab.

I agree that's terrible. It's pretty much the Ethiopian flagVoltage wrote:That flag is absolutely hideous.

The British East Africa administration was reluctant to withdraw too many troops from Jubaland, apparently fearing the activities of Marehan raiders more than the activities of the Schutztruppe across the western border in German East Africa
Can you read maps?guhad122 wrote:Mr. Awdal,
I have to admit that you are one of the few people here who are well-versed in Somali history and culture. I never thought a Reer Awdal Makaahiil boy would know anything about Waamo culture. I am referring to a post you made few months ago about "Bilcaan hoosta ka qoyan".
Back to the subject at hand, yes Somalis were pro-slavery unfortunately espcially the warriors of Jubaland, the Ogaaadeens. Read this:
"Wallace Blake was mentioned in Mr Jenner’s despatches to Sir Arthur
Hardinge when reporting on the Ogaden rebellion of 7th November 1898.
This particular episode of disruption started on March 22nd when
Ogaden warriors murdered three Arabs in protest against slave trading
restrictions. In reprisal, twenty-six cattle belonging to the incriminated
tribe were seized by the administration. Later the Ogadens killed several
African Police constables."

The Cawlyahans were the most violent and warrior-type clan. The reer Waafato of Cawlyahan were known as the Northern Cawlayahan where the Southern Cawlayahan were mainly reer Cali. Reer Waafo occupied what is now Gedo including Baardheere, Sarinleey, FaafaxDhuun and all the way to near Garbahaareey. Reer Cali were mostly peaceful and occupied Buaale, Jilib, Saakow area and all the way to the Joorey. Here is how how the Cawlayahan Map looked in the 1930s:

Ilka-Yars in around Garbahaareey needed to ally themselves with Maxamed Subeer and Reer Cali of Cawlyahan in order to be protected from the marauding and the mericiless Reer Waafato warriors. The entire Marehan clan was fighting with Reer Waafato and needed help from other Ogaden clans for survival from Waafato. I can bring up tons of docs on this but I don't want to send the Ilka-Yars to the local pharmacies for depression medications that they don't have prescriptions for.
