Could you explain number 2 a bit more?Shirib wrote:it was good. Yesterday was the first day so we didn't go into too much depth, kinda went over the syllabus and definitions.
But we started talking about who God was and why we should worship him.
4 reasons in reverse order
4) Fear of hell fire
3) Jannah
2) To please, to know, get closer to Allah
1) Because he is Allah
but we will be getting more into detail as the weeks go on.

Re: shirib soo gal
BV,
In the Quran Allah tells us on various occasions, that he is pleased when his slave worships him, and that one gets closer to their lord through worship and only through worship does one really understand Allah. So we should do acts of worship in order to please our lord, to get closer to him and to know him.
Does that answer it?

Re: shirib soo gal
Would "to know Allah" be to understand His attributes? Or is knowing implied through the acts of worship? Or is knowing a result of worship?

If I didn't say, Allah says in the Quran, and just said the explanation, would it make sense?BlackVelvet wrote:Explaining why we need to worship Allah by giving reasons from the book that is from Allah. Re: shirib soo gal
I don't understand, how can it possibly be all three? If it's the first, you can't worship/believe efficiently without knowing and understanding His attributes. If it's the second, then knowing Allah is simply an act of worship. If it's the third, no one can know Allah until they complete an act of worship, regardless how much they try to read and understand.
Unless you're implying that there is a process, where understanding leads to ibaadah. But then, knowing still isn't simply ibaadah.
Perhaps my understanding is wrong.
