Grandpa I didn't notice the forearms but even then you can barely see anything but I think we all understood what I meant. A full hijabi without niqaab is my preference, at least in the west.grandpakhalif wrote:Colonel, you disappoint me. You can clearly see, the forearms in the first picture, which is in violation of the female awrah. I hope you are aware of this and reconsider.Colonel wrote:1st one looks nice, if she wore her masar properly she'd have my vote.
When i see girls like in the second pic I say Mashallah, wearing this in the west must be extremelly difficult yet they still do it. Like Advo said there's also an element of surprise which makes it interesting. But I'd prefer my wife not to wear 1 especially in the west, back home i would be cool with it.
I must abstain myself from voting however I must congratulate you former secular union, I came in this thread expecting a choice between a niqaabi and a half naked xalimo.you've surprised me well old man.

making mockery of these pious women who wore hijab to protect their bodies and beauty from your evil eyes is not funny and i find it offensive.union wrote:Over the past two decades Somali society has changed a lot, and one of those changes has been in the way women dress. your entitled to your own opinion or believe but at the same time you need to respect other people's choices about how they want to live.
on the other hand, i am satisfied with it a millions times and there's no going back. not only women will be required to dress like that but we will also make sure that people like you will have no place in the new Somalia, insha allah.
sharia law will be the sole law of the country.
moreover, if i were you, i would leave Somalia and Somalis alone and mind my own business and stay in the west until i die because the future for people like you in Somalia is bleak, to say the least. alhamdullillah.

And your wife(wives)/daughters? Would you force and/or expect them to dress in a particular way?hyperactive wrote:i dont care what other men's womenfolks choose to wear. every one have its own issues, maha dadkale e daba galiyey! i dont have that energy.

The only heroes you should have are the prophetsgrandpakhalif wrote:I like the second one because it is the sunnah of the Prophet's wives, and is approved by King Abdullah who is my modern day heroe.

I prefer the first one, except for the woman whose arm became uncovered these women are all perfectly covered mashaAllah. And even with a jilbaab if you grab a durbaan and start durbaaning then ur arm is probably gonna show. One form of dress is not better than another, its whether or not you've covered what you've been commanded to hide that matters. I've seen women in tight abaayas thats figure show, and women in loose jeans and calf- length dresses that you cant tell anything from. although I respect women that wear jilbaab, I do feel that there is an inappropriate cultural aspect to wearing the niqaab while living in the western world. The point of the niqaab is modesty, however in the west it brings more scrutiny and attention, especially considering that it is not a requirement of faith, I don't see the point of wearing it out here.

i dont agree forcing anything on people , even my family, but yeah im expecting to follow islamic code dress. i ve sisters who chose to wear niqab at age of 13 , even though my parents didnt want that. maybe they chose taht cause my mom wears it. but my mom excuse was she wore it in her early 20s and not at age of 13.Alphanumeric wrote:And your wife(wives)/daughters? Nanees,
Some consider it (niqaab) a requirement. Aside from that, I agree with your post.
Though, for a couple years now, I've begun to question the automatic label of "modesty" given to hijabis, where as those who don't dress that way are shunned and ridiculed behind their backs. "Niqaab", to me, means nothing now.

Nan,
"hijab" is starting to lose its admiration and respect I once had for it. A few years ago, seeing a hijabi walk onto a bus I was seated on, would make my day. Wallaahi I had a sincere admiration for sisters dawning the hijab. Now? I don't know.
