O.K..........Somalies can get up to the most digraceful habids, Like force marriage, Mutalation and clan killng.

BUT......................marrying their daughter to RAPEISTS, i dont think so.

I don't know about the trends in the Somali culture but i have seen that same concept in some of the black & white egyptian movies. In upper egypt, they even kill the poor girl (what a shame).

FGM and rape-marriages, what else do we inherit from the Egyptians? Yes, from Mogadiscio, Bosaso to Hargeisa, most people that I talked to were in favour of that concept. I'm amazed at how we have little knowledge of it. Maybe those with knowledge are embarrassed to come out and explain it, just like FGM.

In primitive society like somalis it is the best thing for the raped girl since high importance is placed on girl's virginity till marriage. Sad though.

I don't know if it still exists today. Actually I didn't think it existed at all until I read your post, maybe I should've included that in my last post. Not surprised becuz it is common fact among third world cultures. I know its common practice in other regions like South East Asia, africa and some Mid-Easter nations. Nevertheless, its something that should be stamped out of our culture along with clanism, intolerance and ignorance.

Lies, lies and lies. That means Somalia and Somali culture are proven to be above any self-criticism. What you are calling for is et us all chew chew qaad and behave accordingly. There has never been a static culture, and it always evolves according to the contemperory moral standards. Like FGM, it is not Islamic but exists,talk to any traditional Somali. It is real, and don't ignore, unless you are a guy who has a stake.

First, is admitting that the problem exist, and then only can we eradicate. Is there any other thing wrong with Somali culture. Before just lumpng everything into tribal. Can't we understand that this is part of the tribal evil habits=culture. Tribal honour=family honour.

Mowhawk you make as if it happens often it may have happened several times but it is not a normal thing.
