somali is a ethnicity and not a nationality, you can be somali and be from kenya, djibouti or ethiopia. so how can there be a term ''somali bantu'' it is like saying ''turk arab'' you are either a turk or an arab you cannot be both. so the bantus are bantu and somalis are somaali. however you can say a bantu from somalia.

they used to be simply called jareer or adoon, until western NGOs inventied the more PC term 'somali bantu'.

back in somalia they call themselves beesha jareer weyn. adoon is demeaning word. but jareer altough can also be used in a negative way, however it is what they identify themselves as.
