If you really don't like what somebody is saying and you think you may have lost the argument, you call him a faggot. Biko aka Jam Street calls me munafiq; I call him jahil. We both relieve tension. Often as much fun as, and often really, fadhi ku dahrir.

I knew I was doing something right.Keyblade wrote:How to establish yourself on snet.
Step 1: Establish your tribe (may or may not be your real one)
Step 2: Frequent the politics sections (especially those of your established tribe)
Step 3: Start a few "my tribe/region is better than yours" skirmishes

Yep, and when you try to have an opinion other than the status quo you're labeled a 'troll'.blackstars25 wrote:Most regulars on this site are long standing members and everyone seems to know each other. Annoyingly, many topics are highly personalised and people just generally are very unwelcoming to new members or they just assume your an alt. Pretty depressing considering this site is 12 years + and still a small community. I think this site has great potential as a platform for dialogue and lively debate among the Somali diaspora but I believe there is something intrinsic about this community that hinders this process. I think there is a need for some structural changes that need to made in the style and management of this site.

I remember in the middle of the 90s when every member's screen name was "anonymous". I took almost sabbatical for 7 years. It still has that special touch but if you want to survive avoid religious topics if you don't share the "kaligii muslim" perspective
Migration occurred mainly after the site shutdown for good (not during any particular Ramadan), due to some technical difficulties as result of anarchy and chaos. But yes, it did suck.FAH1223 wrote:No one is new. The only new members in the last couple years were the SomaliLife kids migrating over here cause their site sucks and it shuts down during Ramadan.
I can count on one hand the number of occasions I've had an (important) opinion where more than one other person has agreed with, and I believe I've yet to be labeled a troll.hipsterrunoff wrote:Yep, and when you try to have an opinion other than the status quo you're labeled a 'troll'.
I know you're kidding but this is something that pissed me off for a while as it occurred to me. Why don't people just ask him instead of asking about him?Tuushi wrote:Wiilku waa qolama horta?
