Don't worry about the name calling. It's as pro-forma as any welcome you get today. If you really don't like what somebody is saying and you think you may have lost the argument, you call him a faggot. Biko aka Jam Street calls me munafiq; I call him jahil. We both relieve tension. Often as much fun as, and often really, fadhi ku dahrir.

Grow a thicker skin. ;)

Indeed. We need to open thr doors for all people regardless of their origins. We could learn one or two things about their culture and custom so that you dont say or do something offensive in case you encounter them. Also diversity has brought more good than harm.

Step 2: Frequent the politics sections (especially those of your established tribe)

Step 4: Participate in a full-fledged tribal e-war.
I knew I was doing something right.

It's a small community because it caters to a small community. Somalis don't exactly have a 177,000,000+ population.

I think you're exaggerating your observations. It seems to me everyone is welcome here. ... Well, minus the derogatory terms thrown around every now and then.

Annoyingly, many topics are highly personalised and people just generally are very unwelcoming to new members or they just assume your an alt. Pretty depressing considering this site is 12 years + and still a small community. I think this site has great potential as a platform for dialogue and lively debate among the Somali diaspora but I believe there is something intrinsic about this community that hinders this process. I think there is a need for some structural changes that need to made in the style and management of this site.
Yep, and when you try to have an opinion other than the status quo you're labeled a 'troll'.

Istagufrallah, how old are you bro? I was a baby in the 90s :|

Migration occurred mainly after the site shutdown for good (not during any particular Ramadan), due to some technical difficulties as result of anarchy and chaos. But yes, it did suck.

I can count on one hand the number of occasions I've had an (important) opinion where more than one other person has agreed with, and I believe I've yet to be labeled a troll.

In the mean time , we need a chaperone in here , i have volunteered for the job , no need to thank me .

I know you're kidding but this is something that pissed me off for a while as it occurred to me. Why don't people just ask him instead of asking about him?

I don't understand this.
