I don't see it as a matter of hating someone because of sexual orientation. I see it as a matter of what Islam teaches Muslims about gays.

I don't know about that. Those convicted in this report will spend at least a few years in jail, so if tightrope's hope becomes a reality, you can expect them to become as such.
It's rape and it's forced which will cause them trauma, self hatred and suicide, unlikely that they all of a sudden become attracted physically and emotionally to a gender and people that pretty much screwed up their lifes. In most cases i've read of the above effects, but ive also seen one or two cases where they turn out gay. I don't think your assertions are far removed from reality but i fail to connect the dots.

There's also the issue of contracting STDs and/or HIV. These men will eventually be released and come back to the community. We can stretch our imagination to what they can do in the community. That's why I, unlike tightrope and others, do not hope they get raped.
