I used to live in England and familiar with the living standards. These are my two cents;

If you want to live in London (not the surburbs like Sussex, Essex etc), you don't own property and don't have a friend to give you accomodation, you need at least to make 52 000 Pounds a year. Housing is expensive; 1-2 bedroom apartments cost approximately 400 pounds a week ( almost 25000/year). Transport and utilities are expensive too. I was offered a job in the heart of London but I had to decline it (they offer London allowance but that is not enough).

There are other ways; you rent a room from a somali (who is probably living on welfare), you buy your home, get a council home or you live outside London where it will take you about an hour to commute .

In a nutshell the answer to your question is related to what kind of jobs your are looking for;

Most somalis earn 200-300/a week before tax. They can live on this because the family usually lives on welfare (social security).

Read; non skilled jobs.

White collars earn between 350-450/week.
:lol: :lol: bro your a bit off, I thought I corrected your inaccuracies but apparently not :? a 1-2 bedroom apartment in London is roughtly 5-900 pounds, you just have to know where to look, also studio apartments are quite cheap. £400 a week is a 3 bedroom apartment or a semi-detached house bro, unless your talking about central London apartments they easily over a grand per month.

greater London is not smart to rent, as you mentioned the travels are annoying, but it is also stupid since they aren't any cheaper than the ones closer to the center, If you want to buy property I would suggest greater London though.

benefit fraud etc is a lot of hassle, they aren't suppose to rent out houses/flats the councils pays for, so it is extremely inconvenient, not to mention the letters and that stuff. If you that that dirt broke, don't even come London. :lol:

This is a very vague question. Try being more specific.

Adali, I see no difference in what we are saying. I am assuming that you are talking about greater London as regards 400 a week for 3 bedroom apartments. That is in impossible in central London (between the Thames and Paddington; Earls court)

Westminister is expensive. I turned down a high paying job because I discorvered that housing will consume almost 50% of my salary.

Rageedi answer!!!!!! :up: :up: :up: :up: Assuming the wife doesn't work/want to work of course soo maha?

If hubby could/will bring home 3-5 stacks a month would be lovely ma ogtahay? Laakiin if I'm making bread it wouldn't be below 2500-3000 so boo thang would have to step his game up a little. Get big or go home. :mrgreen:

Tuushi, the UK is a funny country. Everything is weekly, wages, rents, tickets etc. But, you could also get a monthly payment.

Mar kasta oo aan tago busaarad ayaa igu dhacda. Imagine using pennies as a measurement; it is 2 pounds and 56 pence ; it is 35 pence, is what you hear.
But the tax rates are relatively lower than mainland Europe. Inferior infrastructure.

Most somalis (even those working) live below the poverty line.

It is very expensive. Moscow, Tokyo and Luanda are other expensive cities. Whenever I go to London, imaanka ayaa iga tagaya; even if you are rich you feel that you are poor.

SOme of the so called apartments and houses are sub-standard.
