Lama, do you mean shahwa? it could mean manything depends in the sentence. i couls say : eshtaheyt manga juice=means im craving for managa juice.

could be specially in religion contents; if man has lust feeling topward woman, normally is for outside the wedlock.

it came from verb "sha'ha, eshtaha, shahwa. it's some thing you feel strongly wanting it. it depends the sentence.

I wonder who introduced or whom Somalis copied it from. I remember when I was in Egypt, the locals used to laugh and cringe at Somalis (young, old) holding hands together. This dhaqan should be phased out.

^Egyptians themselves do that, they were probably laughing at something else.

This holding of hands thing is almost universal except for in the West/Cadaan countries. I remember watching this documentary, where a Welsh boy get sent to Kerala, India to learn how to fish and cook. He looked quite uneasy with the fisherman being very close to him, holding his hand, hugging him etc. Quite hilarious.

here Allah used that world in quran here as means "love or craving" shahwa for , woman, kids, gold, silver, horses, animals, farms (wealth in general). is not only sexual, could be shahwa for wealth, a lot of kids, power etc.

Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return "

I am becoming Lamagodle fun
I can understand why you were shocked the use of habiibi from man to man, but believe me I felt the samething (shock) when I heard a Somali men saying aboowe to each other. I am still uncomfortable with that. I did not like when a friend of mine( a woman) kept saying 'aboowe' to a man. I was lking feeling' maxey balaayadu ninka u baryeysaa oo isla dhigdhigeysaa'. It sounded like hadal aad u jilecsan.

But yes, habiibi in Arabic I think is more like 'Walaal or aboowe'.
the second man was freakingly out of order though. I think he mean what he said as some Somalis believe that may be the case.

Hyper,

does the word also mean 'kuleyl', calashaan waxbaa ku gubayah?
