What land dispute leads to the government condemning 17 people to be executed?

In normal land disputes clans clash, one or two people end up dying, and the government step in to calm everything down.
From every angle you look at it nobody can justify the way in which Somaliland government handled the situation.

Nobody called Somaliland "utopia" it is I who chose to word it like that :?

"Build on no outside help"? You are kidding me right? What about the millions of dollars Somaliland gets as foreign aid annually?

Puntland had less international help than Somaliland and it is Puntland who is progressing in an alarming rate. Now that the oil is officially discovered in Puntland, the gap between the two states will even widen with the coming years.

Also, leave it to Somalilanders to always turn everything to Puntalnd. Even in a thread that is dedicated to the atrocities their government commits.

The argument about Somaliland not receiving foreign aid is not entirely correct. The European Union has been supporting Somaliland for years and I recently decided to give 175 million Euro of additional funding for entire Somalia; but around 70% of this money is foreseen to be spent in Somaliland and other areas of stability.

Actually, the status of Somaliland under international law does not prevent the EU from engaging constructively with Somaliland in order to achieve common goals including stability and economic development.

To be more precise, on-going, EU-funded programmes in Somaliland currently amount to approximately €62 million. There are 63 projects ongoing: 27 projects in the governance (€21.9 million); 13 projects in the education sector (€11.2 million); 13 projects in support to economic growth (€15.1 million); and 9 projects (€8.5 million) in other sectors (health, water and sanitation).

This was an issue to do with the army and some local people, it could have been handled better by reimbursement or being issued new land however that didn't happen. Thats the only reason a clash happened, nobody knows how many casualties that number is probably exaggerated tbh.

Its not a big deal and can be sorted out easily insha'Allah.

The reason why Puntland is mentioned is to remind you of the sheer irony that drips from every word you type. Really, such concern is unwarranted.

It is a fact that SL built itself from the bottom-up with little to no outside interference, that is in comparison to Somalia including Pl,where there was much foreign meddling and aid spent on trying to build a nation out of dust.

It has been said before that there is no grand interest on what oil you seem to find, but it seems your kins are always in competition, when actually one could hardly bother. It is unhealthy. In other words, quit the fixation.

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. Calm the hell down.

First, you and most of Somalilander here are always in the epicenter of all the conflicts that happens in Somalia, Puntland included. Nobody cries foul. You (Somalilanders) report every unpleasant situation that unfolds in Somalia and some even rejoice hearing bad news about the country for god knows why. However, when someone else criticizes your corrupted government you throw temper tantrums for no apparent reason.

My concern about what is taking place in Somaliland is not unwarranted it is completely justified. You guys should be outraged that Silaanyo's government is committing this atrocities over land dispute but of course you have you clan shades on you can't see straight.

You seem to be insinuating that Puntland gets more foreign aid and foreign help than Somaliland which is comical. Puntland was build on the sheer will and hard work and dedication of the people of Puntland. Puntland didn't exist before '98 and within the past few years the state become the biggest player in Somali politics.

Competition is needed. The world is build on healthy competition and the fact we like to compete is the reason why Puntland is a head of the game. Nothing wrong with that. Don't act as though you are not bothered but the oil discovery in Puntland. Puntland waay dushaay

We can do tit for tat all you want but you can't deny that the situation could have been handled differently.

Generalisations and ancedotes. One could say the same exact thing about some rejoicing about past events in Hargeisa or deaths even in this section itself. So?

And if some Slers post unpleasnt news on Somalia, they also post unpleasant news on Somalialnd. Just like this one in this section. I noticed,in this section folks are more open and non secretive about most things, unlike say ''hey you're not a pler, what does it have to do with you  ''.

The thing is in Sl,the gov. comes and goes whether some like it or not.It already has a healthy opposition so I don't understand how or where your opposition is needed. Oh and just heard the issue or ''atrocity'' as you put it,at the moment has the supreme court and elders involved. Does that make you feel better now?.I hope so, you seemed really worried.

Perhaps not everyone is as sick,if you think that way it can only reflect on yourself.Perhaps not everyone is downright, horribly envious and evil like Voltage or The Republic ? If Pl finds oil it just means it'll attract more companies to the region. Did you ever consider that?

Oh boy! We are going nowhere.

Every-time something negative is reported from Somalia your fellow S-landers seem to be foaming at the mouth. It is well established. Move on.

Every government, unless it is one lead by a dictator, comes and goes but that doesn't mean that people should agree everything that the government does. The government shouldn't be above criticism. So, I don't understand what your point was.

I am going to reiterate my original point. The incident took place couple of days ago, these people should have been given a fair trail and their side should have been heard. Clearly, if they are condemned to death one or two days after the incident took place, they are not given a fair representation or fair trail which is why I was concerned.

BTW, The people you mentioned are not the only people that are envies of Puntland's success. Almost all Somalis seem to hate to see Puntlander prospering because of their deep seated hatred and animosity toward people of Puntland.
