Somalia was let down by that limp wristed Georgia peanut farmer after we expelled the Soviet Union.

His weak administration refused to arm us as long as we were inside "Ethiopian" territory, and thus because of obvious logistical issues following the Soviet Union's heinous betrayal, we were forced to withdraw. What country in the world could fight against the entire Communist bloc without logistical support from the West?

If Ronald Reagan was in office, things would have been much different. Check out this article he wrote back in 1978

Thanks for the article,Mr Based.

The article says:
Ethiopia,on the ropes of a few weeks ago is now armed to the teeth by the Soviets and bolstered by several thousand of Cuba legionnaires and is pushing the Somalians out of the disputed Ogaden region threatening to overrun Somalia itself.
The sentence is very clear Somalia defeated Ethiopia and Soviet Union and Cuba pushed Somalis out of Ogaden.

The sentence is clear.

Thank you very much for give me more reasons to believe Cuba and Soviet Union won the Ogaden War.

Send me more sources,I want more sources.

We withdrew after our supposed allies refused to arms us out of fear we'd take over Ethiopia and start another conflict on the scale of Vietnam, or possibly even a world war. Remember, this was after America was humiliated in Vietnam by the Soviet backed NVA. They were keen to not get involved in another conflict, and we decided to withdraw rather than face the combined force of the USSR, Cuba, Ethiopia, Libya, S. Yemen, and N. Korea alone. Somalia with a population of 2-5 million overran a country with 10-15 X our population, only to be forced to withdraw following the entry of a world superpower and countries with a combined force nearly 20-30X ours.

I'd say that's a success.

Ethiopia's fear: Somali nationalism

Post by Faranacab »

The only reason the Ethiopians are ruling the Somalis and Oromos in the greater horn is because of Russian and Cuban intervention. The Abyssinian were weak and the WSLF liberated all or most of the Ogaden. The Ethiopians and Kenyans who control large amounts of Somali territory are continuing to brutally suppress the local population and are continuing to keep them economically weak. This is quite evident in North Eastern Province of Kenya where this region is the poorest in Kenya. While both countries are launching invasions into Somalia when it is at its weakest, Ethiopia had broken up the moderate ICU which restored order to a region known for wars and droughts. Why? Because Ethiopia (and Kenya) is in fear of Somali nationalism and the day Somalia gets a functional, strong, central government capable of liberating all Somalis occupied by their colonizers.
A comment from Ogadenonline's article of Gashamo Massacre. Probably a Somali boy much younger than the old Luis, who didn't spent his whole life in studing the Ogaden war wrote that. He clearly diagnosed the past, and presents current politics of the horn. Point is, any 3 years old literate Somali can silence this abused Kuubo naas dheer who thinks he is an expert of Ogaden cause.

What's Ethiopia's fear? Keep in mind, it's Somali nationalism.

WSLF suffered many defeats at the hands of the SNM, was it the WSLF that killed Mujahid Maxamed Mooge?

The boy agree with my point of view.

He says:The only reason the Ethiopians are ruling the Somalis and Oromos in the greater horn is because of Russian and Cuban intervention

The somalis are very funny, they always try to prove I am wrong about Ogaden War but their sources say Somalia was defeated by Cuba and Russia.

Really I am the greatest expert on Ogaden War in this forum.Somalis will never accept this.
But there is a difference between Somalis and myself I have many sources to prove Somalia lost the war,you dont have any source to prove Somalia "won" the war.

Somalia defeated Ethiopia in 1977.

But Somalia was defeated by Cuba,USSR,Lybia,Yemen and North Korea.

All these countries defeated Somalia and show the world Somalia can not fight and defeat Soviet Union and allies.
