Why do some here insist on dowgrading the great support Somalis in Somalia and in the diaspora get from western countries and uppgrading the support that arab/muslim countries give to Somalia. The fact is, you're embarrasing yourselves, because there's really no competition, Gulf countries would NEVER welcome Somalis to the degree they've welcomed them in Europe and North America. No f-cking way. Somalis in Saudiarabia, meet a kind of racism that would make racists in North America and Europe embarrased.

Not only UAE, but even fellow Palestinian Muslims, who are caught up in the worst condition in Gaza that any human beings could have found themselves, sent aid in the 2011 famine in Somalia. Iran, Kuwait, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Malaysia have all sent aid.

For those who are argue for western aid, that aid keeps Somalia in a perpetual civil war. They are responsible for sustaining the status quo, and the UN beauracrats who handle these funds have used it to divide Somali politicians, and different Somali political groups. The truth is, they see themselves as the government for Somalia. UK with other western aid destroyed Somalia in any way you look at it. For instance, WFP brings food aid not during the draught, but during the harvest season. Can you imagine free food coming to the Somali markets during the harvest season when all Somali framers have reaped the fruits of their hardwork and need to bring their corn, sorghum, and beans into the Somali markets in order to earn some form of hard currency to sustain their daily lives? The claim of the WFP that there is no enough food in Somalia is not genuine, because if their claim had any truth in it, why don't they then bring that food aid during the draught season? What about Somali businessmen and women who buy rice in foreign markets and sell that commodity inside Somalia? What about tens of thousands of Somalis who work in this trade? Any way you look at it, the western food aid thru WFP surpresses Somalia's food security and actually creates a deplorable situation, where the Somali farmers have to abandon their farms since they cannot sustain themselves in an environment where there is a food thrown into market by the time they were supposed to earn profit from their work, and where the Somali businessmen and women leave the country and seek opportunities in the markets of other countries. You couple that with the endless civil war that is supported and managed by the western governments through their proxies, and you figure out why Somalia remains in a perpetual chaos and civil war, and why you have endless refugee crisis that is eminating from Somalia.

Keep in mind some of the western governments politicize their aid where they make clear that aid cannot be sent in certain regions of Somalia, and where they also promote the fragmentation of Somalia.

Let me take a shot in the dark, you live in the west and you sought asylum in the west got benifits in the weest got access to free education in the west and blame the west for the perpetual war at the same time downgrading the support the west gives to somalis, you uppgrade the UAE on others. Its unbelievable that you how really give pluspoints to UAE, like they did something, and make upp silly suggestions about countries that took in somali illiterates in droves. NO f-cking way UAE would have done what countries like the UK have done for years. Sadly you don't want to realize that.

Ask people in arab countries if the palestinians were allowed to return and get citizenship in future Palestine, would they want palestinians who wanted to stay, be allowed to get citizenship in their own country.

You would feel more connected to an arab whose country would send you back unless you got something to offer, than to a hippie in Europe who wants to take in thousands of refugees from Somalia and at the same time goes to Somalia to work for an aid organization or NGOs like doctors without borders...and that hippie would probably not even believe in pluspoints in paradise.
