As for Hizbul Islam, they were no were near as extreme as Al-Shabab. Before the merger, they only executed 2 people for murder and adultery (a man who was married and cheated on his wife).

How is that extreme?

He is fighting for an Islamic state. He might be misguided but you can't put him on the same league as the real terrorists. This is the same man who fought to bring the Ogaden into Somalia jurisdiction and fought the Ethiopians who invaded in 2006. If along the way of achieving his goals, he killed a couple of Tigreys, then yes, he has blood on his hands.

I don't see the correlation between being extreme and having blood on your hands. You can have very extreme views and yet not engage in activities that lead to the loss of civilian lives, such as shelling mortars.

He was neither extreme nor did he have innocent Somali blood on his hands. He is the very last "Al Shabab person" who should be tried for crimes or have a bounty on. He denounces extremism and terrorism more than any current Somali leader.

He had the man power, he had the weapons and he had the strength to mimick whatever al-Shabab was doing during his UIC and Hizbul Islam days. He didn't and that is because he isn't extreme like them. He is just misguided but has a good heart.

Dahir Aweys (AUN) is the father of Xasan Dahir Aweys, founder of the UIC. Sheik Dahir Aweys (AUN) passed away last year and his son, is not on the list
because he is not Arab

I am not a big fan of Gar guduud but a while ago when I voiced this opinion a lot of you guys defended him so now because you all defended him to me you kinda made me think he was not as bad as I thought. The irony

umm, i don't know what do you mean we defended him? What did we defend him? I don't think any of us said he has no blood on his hands like fighter is suggesting.

If you think Shabaab is bad and they deserve to be hunted and hung, then you gotta throw Aweys in with them.
