No I don't mean Banaadir because I have never been to it..I am actually planning to check on them one day Insha Allaah..

You know the small building that is near the skyline that have plenty of Ethiopian stores? There is a Somali retaurant called Kulan..it is at the back, ask people where Iftin Xawaala is..then it is at back(the other sides) of the Xawaala. There is also another one at the front but I don't remember the one at the front and I have never been to it..But I encourage you to visit that place you would love it for sure..The only problem it has is, it is very small..Check it

Ohh I know where You're talking about. I think I got shah there before. The place aad sheegasid laakin I thought they only smell like buskut, xalwo, sambuus? Didn't know they have normal food there. Never been there to eat, I'll try it out

The thing about most Somali restaurants is you gotta leave your etiquette at the door...reer baadiyonimo only responds to reer baadiyonimo. If you politely sit down at a table and wait to get served, gaajaa u dhimanaysaa...you gotta run up in there screaming at everybody in sight and demanding a plate while occasionally inkaar'ing the owners and you'll get fed nicely

believe it or not though some of the maqaayado these days are becoming a little more professional. I remember in MN one time the owner/manager or whatever coming to me and asking me 'cuntada see waaye', I was shocked. All in all though You're right man, You gotta fight if You wanna get fed and act like a 'bause. Otherwise Your ass will sit there all day adigo gaajo u dhimanaysid

True, some Somali restaurants are on point ayaamahaan but they're few and far between...still, I can probably count on one hand the amount of Somali restaurants that actually had decent customer service and Hamdi's in Toronto is probably at the very top (the one beside Regent Park, not the Rexdale one)...the best part is, you don't gotta flip a table either

Murax,

You are right the old owner(she) started with macmacaan and buskut, then she changed into all you can eat, but she sold it to this new lady and her husband. Try the macarooni..and everything..You will love it..I gurantee it..

How so? When you walk in, a server is with u within a minute or two, they bring u maraq while you're waiting, the food is macaan, even their mango juice isn't watery like most Somali places. The place is clean too (not counting the washrooms in the basement, smelling like a dungeon and shit ) and to top it all off, they give you shaah on the house when you're leaving.

What complaints did u have?

Let's start off with the fact that none of the above-mentioned was given to me & my co. Also, the place was too over packed in capacity. Therefore, my co & I were left standing at the front door for over 10 minutes waiting for a table. The waiter there was super annoying and was trying to mack on my friends & I. When we finally got a seat we had to wait another 10 minutes for the food. When we got our food it was cold & nasty.

Never again.
