at one point in the process, they charged me and my mom $60. Then some guy beside us is like, "students don't get charged if you show your student ID". I take out my ID and the lady working the cash is like "too late I already wrote the receipt". Even during Ramadan these people will rip you off

looool thats not true at all student ID or not you will get charged the same .

As soon as i landed in berbera i was welcome by a lady with no teeth so dont be shocked if you come across her

Mine was a quite chubby one, they charged me $34 thereafter I gave them a hunderd bucks the chubby one gave me $60 and added: $6 ka samir as I don't have change. I refused and got my $6 eventually. These creatures waa scammers in it's purest form.

Should you travel light and buy the local clothes when you get there?
For a girl yh apart from a few dresses and shoes you can sheets in hrg 6 packs of sheets cost u $20 and just stock up from there

I am not sure I understand this part. So you mean bring a few dress with you and buy your hijab sheets in Hargesia?

Also what type of shoes do you recommend :D . I know that Somaliland needs to construct more roads and sidewalks so maybe wearing proper shoes might be a good idea.

Sheet/ baati = the cotton dirac that u stay at home with
Shoes wise the best is flat shoes nothing with heels unless u want to break ur ankle

Thanks but I am not going anywhere yet. I need to save up the money. Inshallah it would be nice to go next year during Ramadan. I would also like to visit Harar, Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa and djibouti.

Never been to any of these places including Somaliland .It's BIG dream of mine. I have one parent from there . 3 out of 4 of my grandparents are from there. I really want to visit and see my people. Inshallah next year

2. When do diaspora somalis usually visit?
