Dude if I was an Eritrean living in Eritrea, I would not go claim to be a REFUGEE anywhere. There's a difference between economic migrant and refugee...almost all Eritreans are claiming to be refugees, what war is happening in Eritrea? Why are they risking their lives by travelling in dangerous seas just like the Somali from war torn Somalia? It doesn't make any sense.

I don't understand these people...they claim to be patriotic but their actions are anything but.
Abaayo there is border disputes between Eritrea and Ethiopia. So there is a lot of beef between the two countries. And Eritrea is ruled by a Dictator and an elite, and life is harsh for the ordinary citizen. On the flip side, they are puppets to the West, and do not rely on aid. On of the most independent African countries. Its how I see it

There are border disputes in countless other countries, yet you don't see the citizens of those countries swamping each country with refugee claims. Even their sports teams claim asylum. Their admirable patriotism and their readiness to leave their country for life as refugees elsewhere is at odds with each other.

Did a Eritrean girl steal your boyfriend?
I hear you though, they have no reason to claim asylum.

There is war in Somalia. Eritrea is peaceful and independent from Ethiopia since the 90s...yet its people are fleeing away from their country like a person who has seen a ghost ...risking becoming shark food just to live life as refugees and become British, Swedish, Americans etc.

Many Somalis left Somalia in the 80's when the situation was getting worse economically and the Government became corrupt, even though the country was still functioning. I think the situation in Eritrea might be similar to the situation many Somalis faced in Somalia during the 80's. The country seems to be stable and peaceful. The country also seems to be functioning very well even though the US has imposed sanctions for allegedly supporting al-Shabaab. As long as we dont know all the variables, we cant really say anything about why many Eritreans choose to leave their country, but I definitely understand what you mean..Enlightened~Sista wrote:Dude if I was an Eritrean living in Eritrea, I would not go claim to be a REFUGEE anywhere. when you have sanctions imposed on you from america then you know you are doing something for your country, we are still doing ok for a country that alot of miedicine is also under embargo. unlike countries with unlimited aid and struggling more.

eritreans claim refugee mostly for economic reasons, no country would accept you for economic migration these days so you have to claim refugee status, you can live in eritrea but due to sanctions you can't move forward just survive, and everyone wants to make money to move forward in life, how many eritreans do you see claim refugee yet return to eritrea for a holiday or send remittance 5 years after?? alot. My family escaped during the Ethiopian occupation of Eritrea long time ago, but i have been back many times. Many eritrean refugee's are looking for a life where they can make more money for them and their children, so they go to other countries, but comparing it to any country in the horn is a joke really, ethiopians have 10 times more than number annually some even claim to be eritreans, somali is much more with 1.5 million IDP.Enlightened~Sista wrote:Executive wrote:Did a Eritrean girl steal your boyfriend?I hear you though, they have no reason to claim asylum.
