The reason these mp's came together, is because individualy they did not have a chance i.e. they knew they had very little support. Just because they have chosen to choose one person among themselves doesn't neccessarily mean they will move all the votes that were going to go to them to the person they elected. As a matter of fact, they could even have the opposite effect. The mp's that might of supported them, could now choose to support someone else, as the mp's had no choice in this decision. This could actually lead to consolidation of other more serious candidates. So then why do this? The only reasons I can see is that,

1. it minimizes the competition from other smaller candidates, making it easier to move on to the second round. e.g. top contender gets 50 votes 2. 40 votes 3. 30 votes 4. 25 votes 5. 25 votes 5. 24 votes 6. 23 votes 7. 22 votes 8. 15 votes 9. 9 votes 10. 4 votes 11. 4 votes 12. 3 votes 13. 1 votes.
The margin of difference from these other candidates, which is their real competition from moving forward, is so small and therefore it could be as small as a few votes that provented you from moving forward. So it is worth taking the risk that some votes will be consolidated against your favor for the heavy weights. But it is not strategy to win.

2. It gives you some people who are willing to campaign for you.

3. It gives you some form of legitimacy,

4. It gives you some attention.

5. These candidates could give you insight into their strategies

Is this going to work in the end? Are you going to become a serious contender? Was the gamble worth it? In my view, these guys didn't have much of a chance in the first place, and there wasn't much for them to lose either.

That annoying person is the only other person that can unseat sh. Shariif, it seems like he has a great support on the ground and just had a big gathering in Xamar. His name is Xassan sh. Maxamuud.
sxb the southern clans will not allow a daarood president, mark my words there will be no daarood preisdent :up:
xinoow why the fuck do you care its not like hawiye or darood president will actually take the responsibility that comes with presidency seriously, take sheikh shariif for example i thought this dude would be actually different from the previouse presidents and that him being religiouse will stop corruption in the tfg but he proved me wrong :down:

awahab, he has the dough too. The only missing part is uncle sam's blessings :) I dnt think Americans, etc would be happy about him @ the helm.

PO, the only variable that counts in this election is $$$. All the MPs spent a lot of money to get where they are and they need to get back at least some of their investments. Many MPs borrowed a lot of $$$ to stay in nice hotels, bribe elders, etc, etc. Things like qabil, personalities, good CV's, etc are all negligible here.

Guys, your analysis, hate filled exchanges and even your more mature debates lack substance. You talk like pros and insiders while all the info you get is laundered rumors from your inner clan members. How many of you are in Somalia? How many of you actually spend $$$ on overseas calls for politics? Even if you do, how many of you talk to ppl from different tribes and backgrounds?

Here's your 101 Somali elections crash course:
1- Every candidate wants a piece of the pie and doesn't give a jack about qabil. A promise to a ministerial or diplomatic post is more important than fighting for qabil cause;
2- Most MP's will vote for who pays them the most. They are broke;
3- Guys who are eyeing the PM post must work with a different tribe;
4- Any two or three candidates can have a pact of some sort;
5- Your and my opinions don't count. $$$ will determine the outcome;
6- coalitions and sub-coalitions transcend tribal and regional interests. We are now entering "I" era and left "we" behind. Ppl who are clinging to "we/us" mentality are doing that for personal gains and want to exploit those with such mindset.

On a side note, Sharif Sheik is the most popular among Mogadishu youth.

Sorry to inform all of you but your clan sucks and won't do you any shit :lol: :lol:
