Hyper, writing a few books is not easy. He is probably the most known Somali.

You should read all his books. You should read Naked needle and from a crooked rib which were based on the relationship between the rural and urban, between the rich and the poor. His recent books are about the disintegration of somalia.


Nurradin is like Chinua Achebe, Ngugi wa Thiongo, Wole Soyinka and the other african writers.

P.s. he is going to be nominated for the Nobel Prize this year.

You should read his earlier works. Who would you call intellectual? Nurradin is the only one somali who deserves that title. He is an academic, a scholar, a think, a writter, and that is enough to earn him the title of INTELLECTUAL!

Pray for him to get the Nobel prize.

Hyper, your disagreement does not carry much weight. Nurradin is the only intellectual somalis can boast about. He is read globally. He brings to Somalia(s) to the global stage.

That is insulting! To use him in the same sentence with an opportunist and a photo model ( a great woman). You are talking about one of the best authors of Africa mind you!

While I don't agree his friendship with Salma Rasdie , but hey who am I to judge for a grown up man's choice of friends and the fact they are both writers , and writers always their first princinble is free speech , while I believe you can't cross the line about Islam and that both Ayan and Rasdie chose to disrepect our religion and carried on their arrogance while mere appology and admiting their mistakes would have been sufficient but they are happy to be used as tools.
