Actually there isn't anywhere in Somalia I'd feel comfortable swimming in until people take samples of the Water and deem it safe
. I mean, if I was there Ilaahay baan talo saari lahaa, but damn 20 years no coast guard/navy.
I've seen skinnies use the ocean as their toilet. They go straight in the water, squat, grab some water with their left hand and scrub and off they go.

Tell me about it. I've always dreamed of swimming in Somali waters during my younger years. I finally get the chance to do so after so many years, and within only 3 or 4 minutes, I see it happening literally only 10 meters away from me. With my neutral face, I get up, walk out of the water in normal speed and go back inside the Land Cruiser to dry off.

I stayed the hell away from the beach in my future visits.

Why not drive somewhere far, like way, way out where nobody swims since You have a landcruiser. I mean Somalia does Africa's longest coastline right?

Murax,

You obviously have never been to AFrica especially Somalia.

Siciid,

I am definitely going in January. A guy I know went and took this awesome photo of the coast from the Gawaan Escarpment 30Km from Hobyo. Its a cool highland which would make a great summer home:

Murax,

Most logical thing to do but a lot of sections of the beach are taken by fishers and their fishing boats, large ships, some areas were closed off, some sections had way too many large rocks around which made it hard to have access to the beach. That's if you wanted to stay in the town, which we wanted to do since we didn't say for too long. The best place to swim would be the outskirts where the nomads roam. Got a look of it outside the car window and it looks like virgin waters, much better than the city/town ones.

You can get sick from the xaar. Xaar is very dangerous when exposed to the human body. What if you are swimming and you drink some of the water by accident and you get Hepatitis B or E Coli in a place with a Lack of medical facilities.

Garaad,

There are foresty areas near Xerodhagaxley which has a lot of rain. The coastal grasslands receive decent rain and are teeming with ostriches, gerenuk, thompson gazelle, hyenas, cheetahs. The really qaxar place is the east along the Chinese road.

Sahal80,

Sacad are the majority in Hobyo town with a sizeable Saleban and Jaaji population.

LMAO@swallowing sh!t while swimming in Somalia's coast line. I spent a good portion of my early years swimming in Marka, Xamar and Baraawe. Never recall running in to anyone's sh!t.

The ocean isn't like some YMCA pool, sh!t has no chance against those waves and all that water.
