You are right, you can vote however you wish, but it is unconscionable to vote to impose your religious beliefs on others. How would you feel if the Christian majority in this country voted to ban or limit the free exercise of the Islamic religion? They have the numbers to do so, and if cry unconstitutional they can easily vote to amend that too.
first amendment isn't amendable, you'd be pretty much throwing the whole constitution away

It's going to happen in all Western countries sooner or later either through the courts or by pressure from the public/lobbyists to make it law.

53%-54% support gay marriage in the United States nationally. Just six years ago, the number was 39% approval. Of those, 50% of White Americans, 60% of Latino Americans, 59% of African Americans and 81% of Jewish Americans support it.

As each years goes by, support for gay marriage only grows.

how so? And is marriage really threatened by homosexuals? Or the fact that there is the highest rates of adultery, highest rates of divorce over 50%, and highest rates of children born out of wedlock? What are we defending marriage from, when there is almost nothing left to defend.
you open up a Pandora's box, marriage is redefined as a union between two people. You allow this, why is incest a felony again?
I don't know? It's not like America's constitution has a standard moral reference. It makes very clear that there is to be NO official state religion. So what the constitution is saying is that what ever the peoples norms at any present time shall be their laws, by leaving the question up to them. In the 50's a non-married could not legally be married, in certain states/cities they have had ordinances outlining what sexual positions you can have. So the Pandora's box has been open since the time of the Constitution.

There can be an amendment to the free exercise clause saying that Islam is excluded. I'm sure all the red states would be for it.

against the constitution sxb.

It is actually unconscionable, as a person of faith, for me to not vote based on by religions convictions, even if they are on others unless it says otherwise.

Tyranny of the majority is what it is. I'm not sure why this issue is being put up for vote when previous civil rights issues have not.

Im pretty sure it says "There shall be no compulsion in religion" somewhere in the Qu'ran.

But setting that aside, we have separation of state and church for a reason. Too bad some citizens don't seem to realize why it's such an important institution. Kudos to the wise founders who did!

American democracy was founded on the notion of majority rules and minority rights, with certain unalienable rights being drafted into the Constitution itself as the Bill of Rights. For over 200 years of democracy, the US has shown a commitment to this ideal and has steadily expanded rights to all previously disenfranchised groups. I don't see why that would change now.

In the state of Washington Gays have all the same rights as heterosexual couples. The only thing that they don't have is the right to redefine marriage.
