There is a difference between coming as a guest to live and invest in the city or come as in trying to be part of the people who run the city. The time of sharing is long gone. Be content with what you have unless you want another Civil War.

Guys, as long as Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia, it is a federal district just like Washington, DC is, just like Buenos Aires is, etc. However if you mean do locals choose local leadership yes but through the ballot and not political appointees as he has been done to "Abgaal" governors since Abdullahi Yusuf which Sheikh Sharif kept up.

Mogadishu is a very large city and in a fair ballot any Somali can become mayor there. But the premis is the government not practice political appointees in Xamar, in Kismaayo, in Baydhabo, etc. The federal government should not have control over local government.

Most people are overwhelmingly supportive of this Federalism idea because each wants his little clan to have some ownership and borders drawn for. Realistically you can't hand a federal system to people who are XOOLO and have no understanding of governance or nationalism. Federalism is the new excuses to stay in the stone ages and breed more Qabyalaad and hostility.
If locals were to have the say in their affairs, the why for the last 22 years innocent lives have been lost due to meaningless war, famine etc... Where were these respectable, peaceful people who are to serve their locals? Gosh Somalis are so f-king retarded... Pardon my lang
The best post in this thread.

Xamar will never be a Federal State. When I say that it doesn't mean that I give two shids about Xamar, but its because of the reality of the situation.

Now if You're talking about the mayorship of Xamar I'm actually quite happy that the mayorship of Xamar is going to be monopolized by a certain clan because it has led to a domino effect Where people looked to establish their own administrations and I'm sure it helped determine all the major politicians of Jubbaland. If Xamar was a place where any joe can come and run it, then perhaps it might have created less incentive for people like the signitories of Jubbaland to come together. This is what I'm slated to get, and I'll be more than content with it. Personally with Murax hailing from Gedo, Jubbaland State with 5x the coastline of Benadir You won't have to worry about Me in Xamar, but all the thousands of other inda adayg Somalis from all sorts of clans who will flock to it

It only makes sense, when a country is using a Federal System, to have every State deal with it's own internal affairs. The Federal Government cannot and should not have any right in forming States and naming the leaders of such States. That alone defies the whole purpose of 'Federalism'.

So who will decide that it should be a ballot? the government? It is up to the locals to elect or nominate.

Somalia is not the United States and is not mature enough democratically to be deciding leadership over the ballot so to conveniently use the US as a model when it comes to Mogadishu is just very convenient for some. Mogadishu is already under the control by its Locals. You people love Federalisim but when it only benefits your Tol. It would actually be a great idea that after all the so called federal states are created and mature enough Somalia organizes a referendum of Federal states declaring independence because than finally some can get their wish of joining the Kikiyu

If you did not give shid about Xamar than you would not be in here stating an opinion of it never being part of a federal state and yes that is just an opinion not a fact. The certain clan you speak of that has monopolized the Mayorship is not claiming others home and not trying to dictate to them. As for a coastline who are you fooling here? You are a landlocked tribe thus the reason why you are willing to die for Kismaayo  We welcome all Somalis to Xamar but the city affairs will for ever be off limits 8-)

Its a fact, not a opinion sis. The day there is any serious discussion about a Benadir State besides chuckles, wake Me up. If that burns You I do not know how to remedy that besides simply lie to You if You wish.

Also yea, it sucks that I'm 'landlocked'

Garowe nor Bu'aale are Somalia's capital. Muqdisho enjoys that status, not Jowhar. If we were after Abgal land then we would all be claiming Jowhar instead of Muqdisho. If the attention Muqdisho is getting is unwanted attention then hopefully those of you opposed to sharing the city can agree with me in stripping Muqdisho of its title, I'll be happy to move it to Garowe and name Tarzan as its mayor too.

A trend I noticed is some people from a certain tribe, are resentful to the idea of a Jubbaland Administration. I say some people, becaue I know there are others that are politically mature enough to see the big picture. I used to wonder why they were hostile to the idea of a Jubbaland but this picture of Somalia's future political structure really made it make sense to me. Look at the map and You can see why the sensitivities are there.

Nothing burns me because my city is booming, I have peace and rule and run the affairs of the city and only I can decide its fate. Adiga just worry about not getting Landlocked  And btw I have no desire to be against Jubbaland, Azania or what ever it will be called because I have all that you have and more, largest city in the country, a river and farms, a 750 km coast line and a population that will dwarf yours 8-)
