Re: Comrade union
Religious arguement aside I don't know why u guys indulge in pure fantasy, it's well known that somalis can't handle alcohol because of genetics and it's a established fact very few like a tiny fraction actually carry on with their lives, the rest become losers. Imagine its introduced to the Somali population on a wide scale, the consequences would prove devastating.
No thank you.....khat is enough!

I don't dismiss the Qu'ran. I merely encourage people to leave it for their own private consumption.Executive wrote:union wrote:

I meant that it's sale should not be conspicuous. It should be sold by a few licensed distributors for private consumption. I would think under these regulations, that reasonable people of both should be satisfied.
So, the only thing that would be illegal is public consumption? Sounds pretty much like Ontario, for now. I think laws are changing. Would you say restaurants aren't permitted to serve alcohol? Also curious how you think drugs should be addressed.
Re: Comrade union
Let the restaurants decide if their clientele will support the sale and consumption of alcohol. I think the majority would decide, wisely, against it. But a few, especially those in hotels frequented by foreigners and near the airport, might decide to serve it to increase their business and please their costumers. Follow the model of the UAE with regards to alcohol. As for drugs, except for maybe marijuana I take a hard line against them.Alphanumeric wrote:union wrote:

In the next 20 or so yrs Somalia will be rulled by Islamist or Islamist leaning groups so I don't see Beer being legalized.
While What people do in their private home is their damn business the sale and production of Alcahol should be banned.

Re: Comrade union
The number of crimes, accidents, family + social issues, and illnesses linked to (excess) alcohol consumption is staggering. Nothing good will come out of legalizing it.

So what you're saying is, legalize alcohol across the board. What of production?union wrote:Let the restaurants decide if their clientele will support the sale and consumption of alcohol. Why not a scientific approach? Why stop at just marijuana? As for drugs, except for maybe marijuana I take a hard line against them.
I think this is the likeliest outcome; it will remain "illegal", but accessible.PrinceDaadi wrote:In the next 20 or so yrs Somalia will be rulled by Islamist or Islamist leaning groups so I don't see Beer being legalized.

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi #2776, Narrated Anas ibn Malik
Allah's Messenger cursed ten people in connection with wine: the wine-presser, the one who has it pressed, the one who drinks it, the one who conveys it, the one to whom it is conveyed, the one who serves it, the one who sells it, the one who benefits from the price paid for it, the one who buys it, and the one for whom it is bought.
