One of the longest roads in Monrovia, Liberia is Somalia Avenue which stretches across town from the Port Area. In Xamar, Via Liberia is also a main road. Liberia and Somalia were both ruled by corrupt elites and military strongmen. The collapse of both dictators occurred around the same time in the early 1990s. Both Liberia and Somalia were US backed regimes and the two countries allowed US military presence on their territory (Berbera & Monrovia).

There are so many similarities between Liberia and Somalia that it is scary.
